WSJ: Manhattan DA Expected To Charge Trump Org, CFO Weisselberg Thursday | Talking Points Memo

Isn’t this bad news in a way? Seems like charges in a case like this means this was the highest up the ladder they were able to go.

OT, but still interesting (and perhaps a sign that the bloom has fallen off Trump’s rose even in places in the Deep South):

Plans for former President Donald Trump to return July 4th weekend to the city many credited with lending legitimacy to his 2016 campaign after USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park commissioners reportedly did not sign off on a plan for Trump to hold a rally at the Mobile site.

The commissioners were concerned that Trump’s appearance on Saturday “was going to be a partisan political event, rather than just a patriotic event planned for that evening,” Bill Tunnell, chairman of the commission, told NBC 15.

You know, I know you live completely without hope, but I draw the line, when you outright lie.

This is an outright lie.

Sort of like Dems in the House put everything on the table in their efforts to present a good case to the Senate for an impeachment conviction.

Yeah, sounds like a plan.

It doesn’t work like that. Running out the clock only works with civil cases. That’s why Roger Stone was charged and convicted in under a year. That’s why Harvey Weinstein was charged and convicted in about a year and a half. You really can’t name too many cases where even the wealthiest criminal defendants evaded trial for more than a few years.

These are state charges. New York does not have a “Club Fed” for white collar criminals. So if he gets any jail time it will not be pretty.

It will be interesting to see if the indictment comes tomorrow how his arrest is processed. Sometimes before a holiday weekend Central Booking gets backlogged and the first court appearance is on the following Tuesday. Welcome to Rikers, Fred!

Also, the NY Attorney General can bring a civil proceeding to dissolve the Trump Organization based on its pattern of criminal conduct.

Do it, Allen. Do what you know you need to do. You’re smarter than he. And you’ll live in a world full of wonder. Not prison.

Allen Weisselberg … Born: August 15, 1947 (age 73 years), New York, NY

yep … a felony fraud / tax evasion & a possible prison sentence - pretty much will mean that the entire remainder of his life - however long that might be - will be spent in futility - grappling with this mess .

Let’s talk reality…Biden won. Nancy maintained the House and Chuck Schumer is now Majority Leader in the Senate.

These are just some of the broad shifts which have taken place, and I will place this story in that context.

That will never happen even if it would be the rational course of action for Trump. (Or rather because it would be the rational course.)

Counterpoint: They put his shitty company into receivership and freeze all of fat boy’s assets. The company won’t be able to buy post-it notes without approval from Vance’s team.

Fat Donnie’s worst nightmare is not going to jail; his worst nightmare is to be exposed and penniless.

I don’t know jack but I’ve read that all of Trump’s creditors could call their loans and his organization would fall on the ground dead. He doesn’t skate on this.

I really would just love to see him do a rally in orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. The gesticulations would be problematic though.

Nonsense. They get it as a freebie, for the increased brand recognition that comes from being associated with anything Trump. In fact, maybe a little kickback is in order.

I wonder if Donald has Barron and his grandkids on as employees? Or claim them as dependents?

I’m guessing the GQP will finally have the guts to quit him then.
