Wray Contradicts Trump’s Baseless Claims That Mail-In Voting Leads To Fraud | Talking Points Memo

FBI Director Christopher Wray said Thursday that his agency had not seen evidence of widespread voter fraud through mail-in voting — a stark contrast from President Trump’s ongoing crusade against vote-by-mail ahead of the November election.

Could I have some weak milk to go with that weak tea?

He’s either trying to get fired by Trump or trying to look like someone President Biden can work with even though he definitely needs to get replaced.

OR he could just be standing up for the rule of law.

“Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful — there won’t be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation"

No ballots, no transfer, just a continuation. Just what a dictator wannabe dreams of.

He could stay around forever if we didn’t have elections.

We could have ham and eggs, too, if we had any ham. Or eggs.

We should applaud Director Wray for his effort and urge him to continue, but it will not convince Trump to relent. After all, Donnie dreams of being declared "President for Life" and it may come to pass that the only way to disabuse him of that fantasy will be a perp-walk out of the White House in shackles.

Does he though? Or does he know this freaks us out like this?

Sure, I guess the guy who ordered an investigation into the investigation of Mike Flynn could be standing up for the rule of law in this instance.

It doesn’t matter how obvious it is there’s not fraud. It’s clear what Trump’s team is doing. Politicize mail in voting, causing more Republican voters to vote in person than Democratic voters, Then as long as he ‘wins’ the in person voting on the first day he’s going to declare victory (probably with the willing help of the MSM that needs to be first with a declaration) and then scream that the as the mail in ballots return that they are “fraudulent”. With the way things are 30%-40% of the country will buy right into that and go along with the screaming while the MSM ‘false balances’ the news about it. It doesn’t matter what’s “true” and Trump knows that. Some of that 30%-40% will buy into the ‘conspiracy’ and the rest will disingenuously go along as long as it’s a ‘win’ over liberals to do so. Then file a bunch of court challenges to mail in ballots with your right-wing judges and hey, they just might steal this election.

“Truth” doesn’t fucking matter anymore here.

I tend to think it’s a little of both. I doubt that he thinks ahead that much and has a plan. First of all, he knows it freaks us out and it keeps the focus on him. Winning the news cycle is important to him, especially now when he can’t have so many big rallies. He needs the reassurance of narcissistic supply. On the other hand, if some part of him, conscious or subconscious, recognizes that he’s in a world of trouble once he leaves office, he’s going to want to stay in power to keep kicking that can down the road. So while he might not have a plan to become dictator, he does want to avoid prosecution indefinitely.

Chris Wray is my former law partner, in a different office and I only met him a few times, so I can’t claim to know him personally. I understood our politics were different. However, he was always very well respected in the firm and had a reputation as a stand-up guy and excellent lawyer. I haven’t seen anything to change that opinion of him.

All of this also keeps the 200,000 plus dead Americans out of the news. Instead it’s all about what Trump will or won’t do about the election.

I seriously doubt that he gives a shit, or would ever understand that concept. After all, “his people love him” and that is all he cares about.

Or @ghost is actually Wray, trying to subtly influence opinions on the Left…

I appreciate, and credit, the personal endorsement.

Ack! You’ve caught me!

Not really, though it would have been nice to have Wray’s points and partner distributions. He sure didn’t go back into government service for the money.
