Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf dismissed the notion of an impending national lockdown or quarantine in the U.S. during an interview on Fox News Sunday morning.
After saying that he’s been contacted numerous times about text messages and screenshots warning of a national lockdown or a national quarantine, Wolf said the messages are “absolutely false” and that it’s “part of a disinformation campaign.”
Holy fucking fuck. It’s an easy question: “We are not planning that but are evaluating everything, and watching to see if those efforts are effective in the areas that are implementing them.” Or way better, “Yes we absolutely will be doing this soon, for the safety of all Americans.” Instead he goes batshit crazy on the Russian thing. We’re screwed.
This is where the utter unreliability of anything that Trump’s administration says does real damage to the nation. Starting at the top, they simply lie and dissemble so much that nothing they say is credible, even if it might be true.
This is just exactly the kind of situation you don’t need in a time of real national crisis. People will die unnecessarily because of this kind of incompetence and dishonesty, and probably already have done.
If you are in a state with a competent state government, like California, Washington, Ohio, Oregon, New York (and others), your government is a good place to start.
If you live in a state with an incompetent state government, like Texas, Tennessee, Florida (and others), I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe you need to be the leadership?
I agree our governor sucks but our local leader here in this pandemic, County Judge Clay Jenkins, is every bit as good as Gavin Newsom or Gov. Cuomo and I thank my lucky stars daily that I’m in Dallas.
Governor Abbott is about two weeks behind Dallas. Jenkins started restricting activities here with the first case of community spread and we have the strictest restrictions in the state and I love it.
Yes. And if–and I hope it doesn’t happen–if such a lockdown happens to be mandated later, then what? How does this kind of dodging, blaming others help the administration retain the one thing it’s most in need of right now (aside from medical supplies and the means to get them where needed): credibility?
That adjective, “acting,” in front of his title . . .
