Before the inaugural fireworks have fully faded from our retinas, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is making clear that he intends to hold President Joe Biden’s nominees and legislative agenda hostage until Democrats agree to cede some of their power.

This would be an early opportunity to get folks on board the anti-filibuster train.
It could be either get on the train or keep serving under Republican committee chairmen.

This is a prime example of exactly why the Democrats should not accede to his demands. McConnell will endlessly use the filibuster to make unfair threats and demands, not to mention to prevent any legislation from passing.
End the filibuster now.
Kill the filibuster, bring in DC and possibly Puerto Rico as new states so the Republicans don’t have any hope of regaining the Senate anytime soon. They will probably lose more seats in 2022 anyway.
This is absolutely Not The Time to give any concessions to terrorists. Flatten them and run over them until they learn to play well with others.
In a way, there is a little part of me that wishes the terrorists on 1/6 had found MoscowMitch and torn him apart.
Alright, let’s give him some powers. It will be his duty to clean the Senate floor with a toothbrush for the next two years.
This seems like an easy solution. I mean, Mitch had no problem doing this all the time.
If I’m not mistaken, Mitch suspended the filibuster in 2019, then reinstated it. Schumer shouldn’t hesitate to do the same to get things going. The problem is getting Synema and Manchin on board - and that may be what is holding things up.
