In other words, just dumb, fucking lazy and out of ideas.
It’s the sheer totality of the conventional wisdom being ingested by journos and pumped out nonstop. It becomes a substitute for original thinking, a balm for those either unable or unwilling to hold the real complexities of the world in their heads, and a shortcut for reporters without anything new to offer.

A Biden impeachment that goes nowhere and a government shutdown that affects everyone. This just might piss people off to just barely counter the impression that Biden is a doddering dementia patient who unaccountable wins verbal sparring matches with joint sessions of Congress, takes dangerous ten hour train rides through war zones, and negotiates arcane budgeting items with Congressional partners.

Unfortunately, as Bush the Lesser stated, if you repeat things over and over and over again, eventually it is believed. Even a few points at the polls could result in a Republican president who will be more than willing to roll back the rest of the 20th century.

Putin: Trump’s prosecution ‘good for Russia’
Here’s a clip of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin discussing the criminal cases against Donald Trump while at a forum in Russia’s far eastern city of Vladivostok.
Putin said the prosecution of the former US president was good from Russia’s point of view. He said:
As for the prosecution of Trump, for us what is happening in today’s conditions, in my opinion, is good because it shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others democracy.
He continued:
In this sense, if they are trying to fight us in some way, it’s good, because it shows who is fighting us. It shows, as they said back in Soviet times, ‘the bestial face of American imperialism, the bestial grin’.

Looks like McCarthy is a little boxed in at this point. With the recent court rulings regarding gerrymandering in certain southern states (plus, the legal team that won in Alabama is moving their operation to Georgia) and then there is the George Santos problem, McCarthy must come up with something since his days are numbered.

He’s been such a gift to Democrats maybe he can scare up some of their votes to keep him around as a punching bag for his own party. That would be a fun battle for the speakership.
