The Most Important News of the Day While the James Comey case provided real courtroom drama, the most historically significant courtroom development happened in more muted tones in the original Alien Enemies Act case. The long-stalled contempt of court inquiry into the Trump administration’s brazen defiance of a March court order – that blocked the…

CNN didn’t interview the relatives of the recently killed 26 civilian Ukrainians either. Therefore the victims must have been legitimate targets.

And if CNN did interview the grieving relatives Cotton and other Regime militarists would likely refer to CNN as treasonous.

ETA. It turns out,

no evident national interest advancement at all.

And, hidden away elsewhere -

The predictive intelligence program has resulted in people being stopped, searched and in some cases arrested. A network of cameras scans and records vehicle license plate information, and an algorithm flags vehicles deemed suspicious based on where they came from, where they were going and which route they took. Federal agents in turn may then flag local law enforcement.

No, obviously it does not predict intelligence. But add this to their face scanning technology, their ability to stop anyone, anywhere for no reason, to forcibly take your fingerprints and if you end up in custody, to add your DNA to a national data base and it doesn’t matter what your skin color is.

Oh, and remember that demand that states give them protected personal information on voters?

Now I’m worried about driving suspiciously. What does that even mean???

These people are the absolute worst. It goes without saying, but it still helps me to say it.

Some Republican lawmakers are warning the Trump administration that keeping back records, including possible footage of people who visited Epstein’s properties, would be a big mistake.

Apparently, after the 427-1 instavote in the House, the White House pressured the Senate behind the scenes to “slow down” the vote. Obviously they didn’t listen.

Senator Marsha Blackburn also backed Trump and Hegseth, saying that those who defy their orders are breaching their oath.

She said, “It is inconceivable that you would have elected officials that are saying to uniformed members of the military who have taken an oath that they would defy the orders that they have been given to execute their mission.”

Principle IV

Main article: Superior orders

The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him.

This principle could be paraphrased as follows: “It is not an acceptable excuse to say ‘I was just following my superior’s orders’”.

Previous to the time of the Nuremberg Trials, this excuse was known in common parlance as “superior orders”.[citation needed] After the prominent, high-profile event of the Nuremberg Trials, that excuse is now referred to by many as the “Nuremberg Defense”. In recent times, a third term, “lawful orders” has become common parlance for some people.[citation needed] All three terms are in use today, and they all have slightly different nuances of meaning, depending on the context in which they are used.

From the MM: 'A Republican woman overseeing the Alamo’s renovation has been ousted from two different positions after (i) taking the blame for a ‘woke’ social media post commemorating Indigenous Peoples’ Day and (ii) receiving a call from Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) objecting to this passage from page 80 of her 2023 PhD dissertation: “Personally, I would love to see the Alamo become a beacon for historical reconciliation and a place that brings people together versus tearing them apart, but politically that may not be possible at this time.” She’s now suing.’

Okay, we’ve gotta change the name now. It’s ‘UNITED HATES OF AMERICA” or nothing.

Ah, here we go. TFG’s attempt to delay seems to have been in adding amendments, that would have sent it back to the house. Thune turned it over to Schumer and let it go to unanimous consent.

Oh, dear!

Don’t worry, GOP senators. She’s not gonna slow-walk it. She’s just going to stop it altogether.

After all, there’s a federal investigation going on. So none of the possibly vaguely related evidence can be released until that’s done – which will be never.

Remember how well the ongoing-audit excuse worked for Trump’s taxes? We/ve never seen those taxes and finally people got so bored that they stopped even asking about them … And, unlike the new DOJ Epstein-circle investigation, the audit didn’t even exist.

One day there will be a death in custody of a U.S. citizen, arrested and detained in error by ICE/DHS/BP. That will require a helluva lot more song and dance afterward than this tragedy.

I’m assuming that those being stopped are also having their vehicles damaged by the stop. I’m guessing what kind of fun can a US Border Patrol agent have if he can’t cause havoc during a bogus stop?
