Why Recounts Are Not Likely To Reverse The Tide Against Trump | Talking Points Memo

If current trends hold, former Vice President Joe Biden is on track to win the White House with 306 electoral votes — a not particularly close presidential election.

Today is a good day.

Also, this made me chuckle:

I am not sure Biden’s lead in Georgia is going to hold, but that should be little comfort for Georgia Republicans. The electorate has shown that it is shifting away from the old line white conservative Republicans. Republicans in Georgia who don’t modify their approach will go extinct very soon. Well done Georgia Democrats, well done, indeed.

Two more than Cockholster was awarded in 2016. Irony or poetry?

”Why Recounts Are Not Likely To Reverse The Tide Against Trump.”

‘Cause the majority of 2020 voters think he’s a psychopathic clown with launch codes and an Executive Order to deify the imperial family?

(Just a guess, mind you.)

A win is a win, but 70 million people voted to continue this shitshow of a presidency - sad.

It is incumbent on Democrats to figure out why and to work to weaken the attraction for those 70 million Americans. Don’t tell me they are just deplorables and there is no hope for them. There are just too many to ignore and we all live with them.

I want President-Elect Biden to bring President Obama’s official portrait to his inauguration. Hanging it properly should be high on the transition list.

I find it noble that you want to figure out how reach these 70 K+ voters, but they have shown us who they are. And by doing that what would you have us give up to “get them”?
I follow on FB not only my congresswoman but also the congresswoman in they next district over, her district covers everything in the middle of MO. They like Hartzer because she’s for forced birth, she for farmers and their subsides but they deride “socialism”, and there’s a very strong wiff of Christianity must be the religion of the country.

Trump and “good faith” don’t belong in the same sentence. Not even in quotation marks.

I think we’ve got to figure out how to get a handle on right-wing propaganda machines. Fox, Sinclair, OAN, gosh knows how many others.

I believe it will hold and bodes well for the two Senate runoffs. With control of the US Senate hanging in the balance those will force Republicans to play nice over the coming two months on issues like the budget and stimulus. What we’re looking at in early January is effectively a nationalized second referendum on Trump and his legacy albeit one decided entirely by Georgia voters.

But based on the evidence, I don’t see the “hope” angle. As I posted on another thread:

What are the odds Trump pockets the money raised for recounts and then offers excuses why they will not recount? I guess it depends on how much he raises. Stein paid $3.5M to recount WI in 2016. Like a televangelist, Trump could raise several million to recount and just pocket the difference.

Trump not going away and will file for 2024 to keep raising money. I’m sure he’d like a nice sum moving forward to keep paying the lawyers for his personal lawsuits and cover the cost of his travel.
