Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is so staunchly anti-abortion that his office observes June 24, the anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade, as a holiday. The Republican’s actions to…
I hope Talarico is ready to address this, since it’s going to be brought to the forefront soon. Want to keep it to the economic issues? Fine, include what it does to women who may not have insurance for prenatal care, a job without paid medical leave, can’t afford child care. All of that is what happens when “pro life” runs into reality. Not that most of the GQP gives a damn for that, but it breaks through the “unborn babies” part of the issue.
So Ken, do you also go after deadbeat fathers who owe child support with the same vigor you do with abortions?
Surprised that articles on this topic, including this one, fail to mention that abortion ‘bans’ in states like Texas create maternal healthcare deserts where there is no access at all to pregnancy care. From the Google:
AI Overview
Maternal Healthcare ‘Deserts’ Leave Thousands of Texas Women …Nearly half of Texas counties are classified as “maternity care deserts,” meaning they have no hospitals with labor and delivery units, no birthing centers, and no obstetric providers. Driven by rural hospital closures and low Medicaid reimbursement rates, this crisis forces expectant mothers to travel hours for care, increasing risks for dangerous complications.
The lack of local care is deeply concentrated in rural parts of the state…
Maternal healthcare practitioners are also explicitly leaving these states because they are not permitted to offer the medical standard of emergency care to their patients. This is not an ‘abortion’ issue. It is a public health issue. Red states with abortion bans have higher rates of maternal and infant mortality. That’s on Ken Paxton, who has waged war and revelled in the cruelty in the very large state of Texas… because he can.
Always the unborn with these people, never a thought for the undead.
GOP: “The sacredness of life begins at conception and ends at birth.”
Bet you $1000 that an inveterate pu$$y hound like Paxton has paid for a few abortions in his life and times.
I posted a link to this story yesterday… just saying.
