A longtime friend who’s a retired academic thinks the Dems are incompetent. He’s a Dem and progressive like me. I tell him Dems are not a team with a bad coach, but I’m beginning to agree with him. WTF are they thinking when they do these kinds of things?

Who says elected officials are smart? The Republicans win because they’re fucking ruthless, enforcing compliance and obedience with an iron fist. The fucking Democrats couldn’t agree on a fucking umbrella if it was raining. None of these people are smart. We note with interest that 12 Dems voted AYE re the clearly incompetent and inexperienced Aileen Cannon on 11/12/20, as Trump was about to lose an election to Biden. I think some Democrats get it such as Richard Blumenthal, Mazie Hirono, Alex Padilla and Cory Booker. There is a distinct interesting divide within the Democratic Senators on the Judiciary Committee. Minorities tend to arrive at clarity much earlier than others when it comes to fascists.

Why shouldn’t Democrats vote for Trump nominees. After all, the functional role of the Democratic Party in American politics is to corral discontent and get the base party of American capitalism, the Republicans, back in office. Different Democrats balance between the different sections of capital that hire them and the different parts of the the middle and left of center coalition they as individual candidates play to. What’s new?

Durbin thinks the Senate still runs as it did forever ago when e he first entered. It didn’t even run like that back then. Democrats believe in governance. Rethugs believe in power and money.

If anything, King’s explanation that he took JOSH HAWLEY’S advice on a nominee is more of an indictment than if he just said that he was too busy and didn’t examine the nominee closely enough.
One is laziness. The other is sheer effing stupidity.

Some Trump appointed judges are worse than others. Some have ruled against Trump on ICE cases and election cases. Discerning the better from the worst is what probably motivates some approvals of Trump nominees. I’m sure that’s why Sheldon Whitehouse has done it 5 times. Why is that so contemptible?

Maybe it’s because living fossils like Dick Durbin don’t realize that the game has changed. Or maybe it’s because establishment Democrats are fundamentally corporatists that have no interest in serving the interests of everyday people.
