They could try to file for mandamus with the court of appeals, but mandamus is a very tough standard and it’s hard to say that DOJ is going to be irreparably harmed by letting an Article III judge review the report in camera. That would be quite a remarkable argument to make, really – the equivalent of saying “We really, really don’t want anyone else to see the things we have been hiding from everyone.”

I can’t for the life of me understand why Mueller enabled this. Unless Mueller, himself, didn’t know all the details of what was in the report. He almost certainly didn’t write it.

Barr must have thought of that. Maybe the Trump campaign will sue to block the report being handed over until after the election on grounds of “fairness” or some such shit. The DOJ will find some reason to side with them and they are too busy on Barisma and just don’t have the time to comply. Gets delayed until after the election. If Trump wins, no problem. If he loses, Barr cuts a deal with AG Harris.

A federal judge’s assertions Thursday that Attorney General Bill Barr made “misleading” statements about special counsel Robert Mueller’s report sent shockwaves through the legal community.
Why would stating a truth that has been obvious to the most casual observers for as long as Bill Barr has been in office cause “shockwaves”? Is the legal community that gormless?

Not only did Obama bungle the Bush response to Katrina, he even managed to make Deep State judge appointments before he was ever even a candidate. Just like he contrived to place those fake birth announcements in the papers in Hawaii when he was still a newborn in Kenya. I tell ya, the guy’s a monster.

Yet another demonstration of why an independent judiciary is so essential to a functioning democracy. The judicial branch, except for its very top, has been the one branch of government that actually does the right thing on a regular basis. Not every time, but often enough to keep the lights on.

I think Barr COUNTED on the Judges not to call him out. The old boys club would tsk tsk but ultimately let him do what he wanted. That’s what Donnie counts on too. Be a lying ahole but let the Wall Streeters and the the Billionaire Boys do what they want. When a single one steps out of their lane it appears to be ‘remarkable’ when in reality they are doing their job and/or standing up for their values.

We are unlikely to see the unredacted report until after the election. What we are certain to see is Judge Walton’s order and opinion explaining what needs to be unredacted and why. He can disclose a great deal about what’s under the redactions, e.g., “The material redacted on pp. 25-27 does not relate to any ongoing criminal investigation, but instead explain how the Special Counsel obtained a pornographic ‘golden showers’ video recorded in a Moscow hotel room. President Trump’s participation in such activities may be distasteful, but it is not the subject of a criminal investigation.”
