Who’s Mainstreaming The ‘Great Replacement’ Theory?

The ideology that motivated the mass shooter in Buffalo on Saturday, the so-called “great replacement” conspiracy theory, holds that liberal elites (and often specifically Jews) are systematically and purposefully replacing white Americans in order to gain political power.

JD Vance: “Hillbilly Elegy” author becomes racist “Hillbilly Tragedy.”

The theory, once relegated to avowed racists…

Doesn’t this make these folks “avowed racists,” too. Why be polite? Why think anything else?

When you read about JD Vance and his slacker layabout family in his dying Ohio burg maybe a few hearty immigrants are needed there as replacements to revive the place.

somebody is going to impetuously break from the pack and try to own this be the ultra-rightest racist-ist bad-ass … - and in doing so, position themselves as separate from all other potential 2024 candidates - they will attempt to break from a crowded field and gain a plurality lead over all the others and then seek to work the gambit of converting the plurality into a wider lead …to a further widening lead into a winning race to the nomination
All of the possible candidates are going to operate like Trump isn’t going to run … and if he does … then all efforts = simply prep work for 2028.

We’ve got our work cut out for us.

But it would have been easier in 2016.

Immigrants have been replacing native-born Americans since 1620.

As far as I know the Democrats have never announced an intention to use immigration to increase the number of Democratic voters. In fact Hispanic voters break Republican much of the time. If they didn’t Texas, Arizona and Florida would be Democratic states.

There is another uglier side to this story. Republicans have embraced the white nationalist gospel of resentment that appeals to working class whites who think they are being pushed aside by the coastal elites who are helping black and brown people get ahead.

Democrats need to develop and actively promote an inclusive strategy to counter the gospel of resentment or we have to accept reality that working class whites are going to listen to and follow people who preach white nationalism. We can’t continue calling the MAGA base crazy or outliers. There are too many of them. Democrats have to do something that appeals to them that lets them know they have a future too.

It has “great” right there in the name.

Isn’t JD Vance an elite? Ivy League education.

The MAGAs have given up on making anything great, least of all themselves. They’re settling happily for making everyone who isn’t a rich white male miserable. That’s the success they are striving for.

We won’t win them over by increasing their opportunities or softenening any of life’s cruel edges.

Maybe we won’t win all of them, but we should stop making the Republican job easier.

Which proves that there is a plan to use immigrants to increase the number of Democratic voters! (say all the commentators on Fox, OAN, etc)

It will take a special kind of voter outreach to deal with this issue and it is easier than one would think.

But we have to use our arsenal of facts, messaging and organization.

The abortion issue has not gone away, nor has the fear of our country losing its Democracy. What the GOP is selling will not open the pursestrings of the 0.1%, nor will it address issues which must be dealt with.

I would not count Ryan out in the contest with Vance…and I base that on the appeal that has kept Sherrod Brown in Office.

Henry Gibson: “White men! White women! The Jew is using The Black as muscle against you. And you are left there helpless. Well, what are you going to do about it, Whitey? Just sit there? Of course not! You are going to join with us. The members of the American Socialist White Peoples Republican Party. An organization of decent, law abiding white folk – just like you!”

Well, it took 40-some years for life to imitate art, but here we are…

Very. That’s both gratifying and dispiriting. Thank you for the tip.

Excerpt:

Even with made-up groups, the same dynamic held: Members of the Rattlers rejected a win-win proposal that would give monetary bonuses to 5 more Rattlers and 50 more Eagles—still leaving the Rattlers ahead—and instead chose a lose-lose plan, forfeiting 5 bonuses and taking 50 from the Eagles. “This policy harmed everyone and made the bonus distribution more unequal,” the researchers point out.

In a final twist, the researchers presented study participants with side-by-side scenarios that would either reduce or increase inequality without affecting their bonuses, so they could easily compare. They still perceived the equity-enhancing policy as harming their chances.
