White House Vindicated in Belief That Congress Will Blindly Hand Over Power

Originally published at: White House Vindicated in Belief That Congress Will Blindly Hand Over Power - TPM – Talking Points Memo

With the House expected to eagerly place another rubber stamp on a legislative priority of President Trump’s — his attempt, via a rescission package, to legitimize Elon Musk’s work of freezing and blocking federal spending earlier this year — the White House has learned that it is not that hard to bully congressional Republicans into…

Remember back in the days of New York City’s fiscal crisis? When Pres. Ford declined to backstop the city’s bonds the Daily News had one of the great headlines of all time: FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD.

Trump administration shuts down LGBTQ youth suicide hotline***** Shuts down LGBTQ youth suicide hotline

Well let’s just see what the next 6 months bring. Trump diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency could put a crimp in his activities. It’s diagnosed at stage 3, so for his age, physically not healthy, this could get snarky.

Agreed, but we will never see the skin discoloration or the ulcers.

Wait - is that bruises on his hands or discoloration from CVI? I never heard of bruises on the hands caused by shaking hands.

Republicans are finally conceding they’re not totally comfortable

I can’t imagine why ; - )

Now, their constituents won’t have to bribe their House and Senate representative, when they can just bribe Trump.

“Reservations” is such a bullshit comment. Outside of the anointed 3 (McConnell, Collins, Murkowski), none of these losers will vote against Trump. And the only reason the 3 can do it is because the garbage passes anyway. Roger Wicker can shove his “reservations” where the sun don’t shine. Until he actual listens to his conscience, he’s still just another Republican loser.

Yeah, there seems to be little point in having a Congress anymore. The Republicans have simply ceded their power to the White House.

I’ve come to believe DOJ should have been the 4th branch of government. Not a department within the Executive branch. If I understand correctly, independence of DOJ from the President is policy not law. To Trump tradition and policy mean nothing.

It’s their fault we’re in this mess to begin with. They had to capitulate to the slave holding states which created long lasting discrimination, created the electoral college which gave us Trump in the first place, and hated parliament so much they created a different system where their checks and balances are completely undermined.

Lil’ Marco doesn’t want U.S.”diplomats” to comment on whether other countries’ elections are free and fair for the obvious reason the Trump regime is busy destroying democracy at home.

I’ve been saying this. Just not sure when DonOLD will decide that states only need 1 senator, and 2 representatives per state. But there are currently 6 states that have one Rep. But just think of all the savings!

Under the existing US system of laws and Constitution, not to mention the existing two political entities, it will be impossible to “clean house” when (and if) Trump ever passes from the scene. Seriously.

The judiciary is poisoned for generations. The Republican Party is nothing but mindless syncophants, so none of the built in remedies of impeachment or 25th amendment are even relevant.

What can effect the changes that are needed? (Seriously … what are some potential steps that might be taken?)

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why democrats are so incredibly stupid when it comes to describing things. Stop saying “recission package”, say Congress is rubberstamping DOGE. They think what Elon Musk, one of the most hated people in Almerica, did was great. Screw the poor - they suck. Sesame Street? Screw them. They’re commies. USE THE RIGHT WORDS. KISS - keep it simple, stupid.

“The president of the United States didn’t give us an assignment. We’re not a bunch of little bitches around here, okay? I’m a member of Congress,” Van Orden said, according to Punchbowl News’s Kenzie Nguyen. “I represent almost eight hundred thousand Wisconsinites.”

And yet, the little bitches do exactly as they’re fucking told.

Yes, please spare with the pearl-clutching about “reservations” and “discomfort” while you’re bending over and spreading them for the administration. Man up, as we used to say. Show some spine. LOL
