Nope. Eisenhower used recess appointments to put Warren, Brennan, and Stewart on the job at SCOTUS. The Senate did subsequently confirm them all for permanent duty. The bigger impediment to judicial recess appointments these days is that Senate pro forma sessions technically prevent it from going into recess when itās in the hands of the opposition.

Well, Iām not entirely sure DeSantis represents optimism on my part. I think heās a much stronger candidate against Biden - the old and decrepit argument against Biden didnāt work when the other guy was an out of shape orange 70+ year old man. The contrast on stage with a baby boomer Iraq war vet will be stark.
DeSantis is Gen X.
