Whistling Past The Graveyard: Senate GOP Pretending So Hard New Justice Won’t Kill ACA | Talking Points Memo

They have no healthcare plan. Killing Obamacare is as far as it goes.

It’s always like a bad joke to me when these jagoffs make statements that incorporate the phrase “the president,” as if that’s really what Trump is instead of schlockmeister in chief. And as if he’s actually trying to do anything at all.

Whether there remains eight Supreme Court Justices or a ninth is seated beforte the election the ACA is gone.

When the GOP seats the ninth Justice abortion rights, what remains of envrionmental protections, the alleged safety net, union rights, basic employees rights, and a host of other policies that will directly impact on the dialy lives of the middle class, working poor, and others, irrespective of their personal political prefrences.

GOP minority rule doesn’t just seek to end the ACA and access to abortion, their real goal is to erase the New Deal then take on the enlightment itself.

  1. HRC beat Bernie by 3.7 million votes. 3.7 million everyday Joe Democratic votes. How big do you think the neo-liberal Illuminati cabal is?

  2. Polls don’t vote.

  3. Bernie couldn’t win a primary. Twice. He got steamrolled by rank and file voters twice. Hell, he was such a great progressive hope that his whole plan was to strong arm the nomination this year with a split party, not by walking in with the most votes because his message resonated.

  4. Bernie would beat Trump? Is that why Trump has to turn Biden into a socialist before he can attack him?

Two primary cycles was never going to undo generations of conditioning that small ‘s’ socialism is bad.

Trump would have stoked the fear already there and squeaked another win.

Used to have quality folks from 55 Ulitsa Savushkina making regular appearances, until Josh banned them and took away all the entertainment. Sad!

If the ACA is gutted by SCOTUS, and Dems have a strong majority, I would walk away from it and pass single payer.

But…but…that might anger the Republicans!

I think the legal argument against ACA had to do with the individual mandate. With a hopefully Democratic Congress and Senate could that be rewritten to meet legal requirements or will our new Supreme Court be able to void the whole Act just because they want to?

My sister has a plan through the ACA. She has a rare cancer and will not be eligible for Medicare for a few years. She is on chemo and lives a relatively normal life but has had two hospitalizations for dehydration in the past year. For her it is a life and death matter.

Or Amy…

They want to kill America and be patted on the back for it.

The GOP Senate is the worst body of legislators in the nation’s history, in terms of maintaining a viable representative democracy.

It just seems beyond amazing to me that here we are in the midst of a very serious pandemic where at least 200,000 Americans have died, and we actually have politicians doing their damnedest to destroy health care insurance for a millions of people. Just absolutely mind-bogglingly EVIL.

I was considering retiring before I hit Medicare age in a year (and then keeping my income down for a year to qualify for the subsidy) or going part time but am seriously rethinking that now for sure.

It wouldn’t be a squeak, it would be a waltz. The Cold War indoctrination is still strong with no possible discussion of socialism with a large percentage of the populace, no matter how much they now benefit from it… Sad, but it’s the reality.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said that, “I know that’s the talking points for the Democrats, but I don’t see those as directly related.”

Cornyn going for the stupid award here again I see.

I’ve seen many stories of people who retired in their fifties largely because they were able to get reasonably priced health insurance through the ACA. Those folks have to be shaking in their boots at this point.

The so-called prolife party presides over 200,00+ Covid deaths and many thousands morenon Covid deaths if the ACA is dismantled.
