Whistling Past The Graveyard: Senate GOP Pretending So Hard New Justice Won’t Kill ACA | Talking Points Memo

John Roberts can’t save them now.

GOP senators are close to putting on the Supreme Court a justice who could be the deciding vote to kill Obamacare, delivering to the Republican Party its decade-long goal – and exposing it to the political repercussions previous failures have spared it, and during a pandemic, no less.

“GOP senators are close to putting on the Supreme Court a justice who could be the deciding vote to kill Obamacare…”

Well, I’ll be darned – I guess there really is gonna be a ‘death panel’!

Well again if they are principled and really believed Obamacare was pulled out of the “Communist Manifesto” then they should do what it takes to eliminate it, and deal with the blowback. They can always blame the democrats and the American public will mostly swallow it.

“I will protect pre-existing conditions! The Democrats want to take it away!”

As long as the head of the party is going around saying this, and the GOP is suing to take that protection away, there is absolutely no reason to credit anything the GOP says on the topic. They’re just lying liars, as Al Franken once called them.

Wouldn’t ‘whistling past the graveyard’ be much more appropriate if it was Democrats who were doing the pretending here?

And Gillibrand can go fuck herself. We could really use people like him around right now.

You’re you just saying that because you’re sexist? I think you’re only saying that because you’re sexist. I’m pretty sure that point has been screamed at me many times.

Sorry about going OT:

Anyone from the Iowa area here?
Here we have a possible lynching and burning of a black man on September 16th near Grinnell, Iowa and it’s just hitting the news now? And of course, it doesn’t appear to be a hate crime. Has this been in the Iowa news?

I’m saying that because she was the ringleader who shoved him out with no due process.

Had it been Schumer or someone else, would say exactly the same thing, substituting only the appropriate gender.

Look for the SCOTUS nominee to wallow in weasel words when she is questioned on this matter during committee hearings.

NOMINEE: I only call balls and strikes, sir. I have never even considered Obamacare, abortion, or the unitary executive. As a mater of fact, I have never even heard such terms, so it is impossible for me to have any preconceived notions on any of them.

SENATOR: Sounds totally believable to me. Approved!

Oh come on. It was a joke.

It’s not my fault that the ringleader, looking strictly to take down a potential Presidential competitor, was willing to sink a fellow Democratic Senator for no good reason, happened to be female.

But man people love to scream sexism about it here.
