Says the guy whose White House just told “local authorities” to go to hell in Tulsa and Phoenix.

While Pence tiptoed the topic of masks, he praised the Trump administration for the progress that was made at the local level in New York, crediting the president for New York’s apparent emergence from a staggering outbreak of the virus earlier this spring that is now at least temporarily under control as businesses continue to reopen.
More unadulterated horseshit. Trump did almost everything possible to make New York experience a nightmare. Recall that Trump said the states needed to acquire the materials they needed instead of using the federal government to acquire them. Imagine 50 states competing for ventilators and ICU bed purchases; sellers would love that. Now imagine a single entity…the federal government…doing that and providing the states what they needed. Trump was worse than an impediment.
The vice president also defended the Trump campaign’s insistence on holding reelection rallies — often indoors — to crowds of largely unmasked supporters, pointing to the right to assembly enshrined in the Constitution.
Because nothing says willful ignorance and malfeasance more than ignoring medical science and promoting the greater possibility of exponential disease growth while also requiring attendees to sign releases from liability. Anyone who supports this “fucking moron” and his maladministration is either a grifter, delusional or a damn fool.
It’s perfectly understandable that the pandemic task force hasn’t been giving briefings – I mean, there’s a pandemic going on. Can’t expect them to convene under those conditions.
I sincerely hope that the hell Pence claims to believe in exists, because he’s surely ending up there.
And after all this, what exactly does the “pandemic task force” do . . . . other that stand around with their respective thumbs up their ass?
It surprised me when he did that…it was more my believing that Trump did not have the ability to use his powers of evil to turn this emergency into a political loyalty exercise.
But, silly me…this is a Team Effort. Trump is a potted plant. Team Trump…that’s who did this.

Pence again avoided answering, suggesting instead that Americans heed the guidance of local and state officials. While in one breath Pence acknowledged that some states have offered provisions on “facial coverings,” in another he declined to comment directly that face masks should be worn even in states where a mandate has not been put in place.
Un-fucking-believable.
Maybe Trump’s spokespeopeople can start spelling out the forbidden words so Trump won’t know what they are saying.

If there was any desire to provide a responsible federal response and actually answer the question while remaining true to his “conservative roots,” it would have been easy to tack on a disclaimer like, “While Americans should heed the guidance of local and state officials, we would advise all Americans to wear masks when leaving their homes to help prevent the spread.”
But all “policy” is driven by Trump’s random synapse firings, which don’t want the perception of the virus to be visible in public. Due to the magical thinking, that will somehow make it “go away” so that the economy can come roaring back and he can ride that to reelection.
I dunno. Mix and match?
And local and state officials-looking at you Kristi Noem, tell their residents to follow the federal government’s guidelines.
