Where Things Stand: Barr’s Saving Face | Talking Points Memo

Barr is mulling the word ‘mulling’.

He’s mulling about mulling over it. He’s a thoughtful man, that one.

The the aggressive overt actions at the top of DOJ for the political and financial gain of Trump and his allies for political/economic reasons are out in the open now. Regardless of his denials, Barr has also signed on to either coopting or tearing out practical impartiality from DOJ’s professional bureaucracy.

Trump and Barr’s success to date in shifting DOJ from “Deep State” to “Trump State” can be measured or put in context. Am curious as to how much turnover has occurred in the DOJ’s line attorney and professionals corp since Trump took over? Would also like to know how much of the HR function has been politicized and if political litmus tests are now being applied during the hiring process. Lastly, am curious about how many are employed at DOJ today vs. at the start of Trump’s administration.

There must be many other ways to quantify and qualify the changes that have taken place throughout DOJ since Jan 2017 to better understand how far the organization has shifted away from supporting the constitution and toward supporting Trump. The same thing can be said for every other Federal agency and department.

Barr’s Saving Face

No, there’s nothing to save. I have a feeling that Barr’s behavior has exposed him as being so obviously corrupt that even most right wing organizations will wish to distance themselves from him when this is over. Not because they don’t like what he’s doing, they simply won’t want to show any public approval of his actions. Barr will be left to fend for himself if he either leaves Trump this year or Trump loses in November. Either way, I see a bleak future for him.

Three prominent corporate news outlets … FIFY

Barr is almost certainly lying – he just wants Trump to stop interfering w/ his massacre of justice in the USA – but this has become a necessary qualifier given the habit of for-profit media* repeating propaganda and gaslighting in headlines and ledes.

NB: Everyone knows headlines are broken. Here’s how news organizations can start fixing them.

Yeah, and of all the faces to save, why that one?

Barr is a multimillionaire, and like most of his peers, he is doing just fine these days. His only disagreement with Trump is that he likes to do his dirty work in the shadows, whereas Trump likes the whole world to see what he is doing. Barr’s public efforts to try to rein in Trump’s excesses are as false as Susan Collins’ concern trolling. These people don’t give a shit about anything except their own personal power. They are empty vessels made out of vanity and greed.

And, as I asked on another thread: What difference would it make if Barr resigns at this point? Not trying to be snarky…

Can’t draw but maybe someone can.
“This is Barr’s brain. This is Barr’s brain on Trump.”

Heh, is this some way of signaling that the GOP is looking to move towards the center, or that it’s just screwing it over? (Elephant humps RINO.)

Barr is the one feeling the pain for Trump’s overreach. Trump isn’t but Barr is getting pounded by his peers.

Pfffft!

Not gonna happen.

Trump is hoping that RBG dies (or resigns) before the Election so he can put Barr on the SCOTUS (or maybe Trump’s Sister, the “retired” Circuit Court Judge who “retired” rather than be investigated by NY State prosecutors about how Fred Trump Sr. funneled over $800 million to his children illegally through various tax dodges. Trump really is stupid enough to try that, and you KNOW the Republican Senate would approve it.)

He would then replace Barr at AG with someone like Rudy or Nunes or Gaetz, a true asslicker.

Barr isn’t so much a Trumpist as he is a “Monarchist” who wants to see a “President as King” in office, not necessarily Trump however.

The duplicity and double-gaming is enough to drive a rational mind crazy. NOTHING is as it seems, except - apparently - tRumps desire, ‘need’, “ASSIGNMENT” to clear Moscow and remove sanctions?

BREAKING:

At a London pretrial hearing in the extradition case of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Wednesday, the court was informed that Assange will be calling a witness with explosive testimony. According to Assange’s legal team, that witness will report that Assange was approached while in exile and offered a pardon by the U.S. government if he would claim that Russia was not involved in the theft and release of documents from the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election.

The visitor bringing this offer, according to Assange’s attorney, was former California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. But the claim is also that Rohrabacher was there on behalf of Donald Trump, to let Assange walk if he would only say that Russia was not involved.

When I saw the TV interview last week with Barr talking about wanting Trump to stop tweeting so he could do his job, Barr took pains to mention “the men and women” of the DOJ.

“Men and women” sounds more folksy, egalitarian and feel-good than simply saying “people”, or another more emotionless designation.

Barr is dishonoring every one of those people he is referring to.

That face would take a lot of effort to save.
