In the four years since they stole a Supreme Court pick from President Obama, several Republican senators have talked about what they might do if a similar situation arose again in a future election year. That scenario is now upon us.

Lost cause, given the timing of Mitch’s announcement.

The evil bastard could not even wait for twenty four hours.

He wasn’t going to do that, he’ll tell you why and that’s ok (at least with me).

Now we’ll see what angry voters who are tired of Trump will do.

The Democratic response has to be that if Trump loses the election and the Democrats get control of the Senate, should the GOP approve a nominee in the Lame Duck, the Democrats will move to expand the Court to 13, and abolish the filibuster to do so. If you are at war, you might as well go nuclear.

It’s strange, i wasn’t for court packing, but considering the last two hrs (and McConnell’s statement), I’m becoming a fan.

They’re Republicons, therefore they lie. They will vote to fill the seat. Dems. need to stop hand-wringing over what we can not stop. We need to focus. Register, volunteer, donate, and vote. Then give the Republicon liars some smashmouth payback, 10x, when Biden wins. For now, eyes on the prize, Dems. Eyes on the prize!

Court reforming.

Short answer: i was a ‘sunshine patriot’ (hesitant) about this, because doing this means defending it forever (no mercy).

Now, I’m basically eff it, lets do it and hope that the next generation will remember us well.

Get over it already. Democratic voters did not vote for Bernie. And if you don’t like it, become a donor and influence the selection of the Dem. candidate. Anyone can donate. Anyone can volunteer their time and gain influence in the party. Bernie’s problem is that all those young people do is put thumbs to phones, so unless voting is by cellphone, Bernie does not have a chance.

what will happen AT BEST is this:

4 years of trump and gop extremism and constitutional crisis while they abuse power
And then
4 years of the msm demanding that the Dems not exercise power in the name of bringing the country back together

Civil War isn’t an option anymore…its an inevitability

I doubt the civil war part, but it is the Trump era.

Your other points, yup, agree.

Graham already told Manu Raju CNN in July that he will consider nominee before end of 2020.

We need to flip Senate or it’s a lost cause.

GOP are never fair.

The supreme court’s membership has changed six times…it has not always been 9. Congress sets the size of the federal judiciary. Every single change in court size was political, a response to changes in power, or (Lincoln adding a 10th seat) to bad decisions.

So let’s get garnder, Tillis, mcshilly, etc on record. They can say they will confirm in a lame duck, or promise not to do so. Use it as an issue. My guess is that garnder, Tillis, McSally, Collins, and probably earnst are freaking out as much as we are.
