What We Know — And Don’t Know — About Trump’s New Immigration Order | Talking Points Memo

President Donald Trump’s Twitter pledge on Monday to “temporarily suspend” all immigration to the United States was finally translated into a legal document Thursday night — one with plenty of caveats that didn’t fit into 280-character missives.

Governance by randomly pushing and pulling levers with no underlying sensible and productive policy goals results in Trump’s usual chaos and deflection. I give him a big, fat “F.”

Trump does what he always does when faced with charges of negligence and incompetence, distract by punching downward. Immigrants see what’s happening in America, and are probably cool with waiting until January, 2021, to come here.

Has anyone in the media asked him about this obscenity?

The group also found that the order would favor migrants from western Europe, Canada and Australia.

As the first speaker at Friday’s CPAC event, the real estate mogul and reality TV host called immigration reform a “suicide mission” for Republicans, arguing that "everyone of those 11 million people will be voting Democratic."

There is/was concern that as many as 4,000 physicians would be excluded . Don’t know if that was changed.

“When Solvenia sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re bringing sex workers. They’re bringing post-Soviet handlers. They’re golddiggers. And some, I assume, are good underage models fraudulently applying for Einstein visas to hide their illegal entry.”

Trump is coherent enough to order the United States Military to shoot an oceangoing ship out of the sky.

But his order had the word “Iran” in it.

As usual, the racism and disparate impact of this policy is an intended feature, not a bug. If this had anything to do with public health, it would apply across the board, but it’s purely based in racism.

“This is just an effort by the administration to distract from its inability to effectively manage the COVID-19 crisis,”

The out of work whites in Ohio and bankrupt farmers in Iowa will forget their pains and thank God for having Trump deliver them from the scourge of immigrants. Trump will issue and Executive Order for AG Barr not to prosecute lynchings. That should shore up the southern white vote.

Barr would prosecute those who tried to interfere with lynchings.

But will we have enough migrants currently inside the US to replace the dead ones that worked in the meat processing plants?

Tangential but important: we have heard absolutely nothing about what’s happening in the baby jails and detention facilities.

Nothing.

We know what’s happening in jails and prisons and nursing homes and we know the conditions in the CPB facilities are worse in every way that matters for purposes of communicable disease. And we have heard nothing. A big huge ominous silence. Compounded by the failure of people who ought to be demanding answers to even raise the issue.

I am terrified that children and adults are being thrown in mass graves. The silence is so terrible it deserves a capital “S.”

I hope somebody laughs at this as much I did. From a Letter to the Editor in SF Chronicle.

States want to stay united,

but trumpery prompts war.

His abject rulings blighted,

As he lacerates the law.

Unhinged, inept and anxious,

while boasting Facebook highs,

he rolls back key decisions

on our rivers, lands and skies.

With daily threats and rulings

of total White House reign,

he twists the Constitution,

to weaken by disdain.

Oh, hail His Royal Heinous!

November, please come soon.

United States together,

we can defeat this loon.

It’s not that they don’t want immigrants, they do want them, and give them jobs too, they just want them persecuted and humiliated. It was like in the the Great Northward Migration, white southerners discovered that it was not that they didn’t want blacks, it was just that they wanted them in their place.

Dems. please stop and think before you go off chasing the shiny “immigration fight” bauble. Now is NOT the time to start this argument. Can we please just focus on Trump’s Deadly Pandemic and try not to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yet again? Please, please, please. I’m beggin’ here.

This move has Steven Miller’s greasy fingerprints all over it. Oh, by the way, he’s “saving jobs for Americans”? Yes, because so many citizens are clamoring to work in meat processing plants for minimum wage. Please.
