Former President Donald Trump, his aides and advisers were caught off guard Thursday evening when news broke that the grand jury investigating Trump’s role in the $130,000 hush money payment made to porn actress Stormy Daniels voted to indict him, according to multiple reports.
The coordination of the hysterical calls-to-stochastic-violence coming from the Christofascist party and its leadership tells you how terrified they are.
One potential benefit of having this case as Trump’s “first indictment” is that (perhaps) the other prosecutors working on cases against him no longer need to fear the scrutiny they might have gotten for being “the first person to indict a former President.” I’m not saying that that should affect how they’ll proceed in their cases against him, but I can’t help but feel that they’re all a bit relieved. Every other indictment to follow will almost certainly result in fewer death threats to the prosecutor who issued it.
Reports indicate that he was eager to project confidence amid the news and was seen having a public dinner with his wife Melania and her parents at the club at Mar-a-Lago, as local police were stationed outside the front gate of the residence.
My take is that Mel wanted Donnie out in public so he couldn’t throw shit in their private residence. Plus it gave time for the staff to Scotch Guard everything in the private residence.
To the extent that Donnie, his family, his supporters, his advisers, were surprised speaks to their delusion and sense of invincibility and moral superiority.
Master thespian Graham enters the fray. I expect this will give Mr. Graham another Oscar-winning opportunity.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told the Washington Post that he spoke with Trump for a few minutes after the news broke and that the former president was “upset and disappointed” but also “very calm.”
[Methinks that Trump has not thought through the term Multi-Count-Felony .
Nor non-compromised judges
Nor S.O.P. limitations on incitement
Nor the fact that a sizable percentage of people** find that being indicted is a bridge too far…
** who vote]
I am writing this with the assumption that “what we know” is a Performance Art piece. We know what the Orange Menace wants us to know. I would rather hear from Mary Trump about all that (and she was kind enough to talk to O’Donnell last night, opining that, however their people want to spin it, last night was a very sad night indeed).
