What’s Really Going on With All the Celebrities Trying to Pinkwash AI

[Essay] Rich Actresses Are Pushing AI June brought a strange new chapter in the ongoing PR effort to pinkwash AI. Trae Stephens, Silicon Valley venture capitalist and co-founder of AI defense company Anduril Industries, joined Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast for an hour-long conversation about the divisiveness of modern politics, faith, and the Pope saying the…

Couldn’t gawd find a better messenger than Dan Fugging Patrick? Throw in Abbot and Paxton, and I’d feel pretty good about waging a battle on religious principles.

Just dropping in to say I have been looking for local counter protests to all the nonsense in DC on Sunday, but there isn’t much information out there…..

Looks like some of the District Courts have figured out that in the “Culture Wars” only one side represents culture.

And speaking of culture, Saturday’s Heather & Paul & Tim:

And the pic taken yesterday from the Kennedy Center @ the time the DC Circuit told TSF to pound sand that needs no further comment.

Remember when Michelle Obama planted a vegetable garden at the WH?

Now it’s the White Trash House.

If the racial makeup of an incoming class didn’t change after that ruling, the DOJ says, that’s partial evidence a school must be breaking the law.

This is pretty much an exact parallel to their “voter fraud” argument: “We didn’t win, so they must be cheating!” As one has come to expect from Trump and all who surround him, it sounds remarkably like a spoiled, petulant seven year old.

To make its point, the DOJ highlighted the University of California, Davis’s consideration of socioeconomic disadvantage as an example of “racial proxies.”

If we want to talk about unlawful proxies for race, someone should do a statistical analysis of which has the tighter correlation: socioeconomic status or political party affiliation?

Scrolling with skepticism. My carefully curated information streams are packed with fabulous dance numbers from old Hollywood musicals, cute pictures of cats and dogs and information and commentary on the latest legal and political developments (and the tarp over the restoration of the Kennedy Center signage). It would be distressing if blonde celebrities touting AI or Goop were to work their way into such wholesome fare.

And here, as a retired female businessperson, I thought I was trying to understand the economic and social impact of AI from the standpoint of business, the workforce, the government, and culture like a normal adult. Silly me, who knew I need it to organize my weekly meal plan.

A good video here on how companies are able to build data centers in areas with cheap land and compliant local governments and without enough electric supply on the grid. They just build their own gas power plants for “behind the meter” power, causing environmental damage and health hazards.

Remember when Kim Kardashian, Lindsey Lohan, et al were getting paid to tout the wonders of “investing in” NFTs? Remember what’s happened to NFTs since? … Seems unlikely that AI will take that much of a fall…But history rhyming itself is not out of the question here, I would guess.

I’m hoping the weather gods cooperate, and there is a massive downpour, along with heavy winds to disrupt the sick fuck’s human cockfighting event.

B/c President Grassley is (as crazy as this sounds) the best case on a line of succession event.

The answer, according to Paltrow, is that she’s on a quest to connect with people with whom she may disagree. “I am trying to, in my journey through being an American right now, trying to, I don’t know, I guess sort of weave together lots of different points of view,” she said, “and also to get out of that place of, like, righteousness and anger and fear.” (Paltrow insists she is “not a Republican” and identifies as “completely an independent.” Cue the White Lotus memes).

To my cynical ears, this sounds suspiciously close to Tucker’s extremely disingenuous “just asking questions” nonsense. I think an enterprising reporter will learn they’re receiving some sort of payment for what amounts to their endorsement.
