Funny how easy it is to forget that Democrats are “in charge” in DC. Sigh.
Yes, and in November of 2020 GA had two U.S. Senators, both Republicans, who should’ve been the ones to address any concerns about election tampering in their state. So, why was a senator from another state sticking his nose in GA’s elections? Why didn’t he forward his concerns to the two GA senators for them to address? His response makes zero sense.
Pardons are a lot more complicated in GA. The governor doesn’t control pardons, a pardoning board does and here are the requirements:
ELIGIBILITY:
- You were convicted of a felony offense in Georgia;
- You completed all sentences at least five (5) years before applying (this means that you have been off parole or probation for five years);
- You have lived a law-abiding life in the last five (5) years;
- You do not have any pending charges; and
- All of your fines and/or restitution are paid.
Since when does the violation of one’s oath of office erode the constitutional balance of power and the ability of a member of Congress to do [his] job?
Really?!? All of them?
Yeah, well, Lindsey, if the American people don’t want you as President they won’t vote for you and you lose. This system is called democracy and that’s how it works.
The system of throwing out the votes of people who don’t vote for you is called cheating and it doesn’t work.
Makes his face like a doughnut?
(“Make your face like a doughnut” - What a driller on the job site used to say to me, the college guy).
Lol All of em, Katie!
well, ok then… backing up, step by step, out the door. One less thing for Chuck Schumer to have to do… Thanks for the correction.
Maybe he’s afraid of lying to Congress or perjury?
Nonsense. Graham’s lawyers are just grandstanding. Being a federal office holder does not exempt that person from a grand jury investigation.
If you’re a Republican – probably. I’m sure Thomas and Alito could find a way to read the originalist tea leaves that way.
Sorry, wasn’t trying to take a shot, just wanted to make clear that dear ole Lindsey has even less cover than he thinks he does…
the subpoena:
Judge Robert C I McBurney…
9. …Georgia is a participant in a reciprocal program…
10. This certificate… presented to a judge of the South Carolina Tenth Circuit… on behalf of the Office of the Fulton County District Attorney… to compel the witness
Nah, he’ll either amble or mosey.
“As Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Graham was well within his rights to discuss with state officials the processes and procedures around administering elections,”
How is this a defense to a subpoena?
I mean okay, you are within your right but clearly the State is within its right to question you about exactly what you did, why you did it, and review if in fact or law you can provide evidence, exculpatory or otherwise, in an investigation.
Be awesome if the DA responded with, fuck it then we’ll arrest you instead of questioning you
(Also, Larry Craig, arrested by airport police in Minneapolis-St. Paul airport was a Republican Senator)
Why not comply?
I’m thinking that he’s referring to Graham’s Federal protection, but a coke > googling the exact term.
It’s bravado bullshit. He’ll comply because he must or suffer like he’s never known.
