WH Won’t Allow Fauci To Testify In Front Of House Next Week, Claims It Would Be ‘Counterproductive’

President Donald Trump is refusing to let National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, who also serves on the White House COVID-19 task force, testify before a House subcommittee hearing scheduled for next week.

Dems need to demand that Fauci testify. Make the WH press corps grill this group. We know the WH ordered 100k additional body bags. What have they been deliberating that we ought to know? This is an example of why obstruction of justice is bad. It harms the public.

An explanation of what authority they have to do this would be, ya know, nice.

We start the day at a staggering 1,134,000 corona virus cases and 65,886 fatalities. If we average 1176 fatalities per day for the rest of this month, we will reach 100,000 fatalities by the end of May. We are also on track, if we average 20,000 new cases per day) to add another half a million and get to around 1.7 million total corona virus cases.

100,000 might be the point of no return for many independents and senior voters and even for some Republicans. It might even be the point of no return for this Administration. The numbers matter to them from a political framing/marketing standpoint. Saying it was ‘only 60,000’ was something they found sustainable looking down the road to the fall. 100,000 by early summer is a much harder number to defend, especially since they foolishly set the framing that the fall will see a new wave of infections.

I assume a subpoena will now be in order?

The divine right of kings asserts that Trump is subject to no earthly authority, deriving his right to rule directly from the will of God.

Trump’s evangelical supporters will turn to their book and cite chapter and verse that “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What are you doing?”

And the fabled founding fathers encapsulated that same philosophy in Article XII.

But the White House had no problem with Fauci’s sitting through hours of Chiselin’ Trump’s spouting lies, misinformation, and disinformation during his numerous coronavirus task force briefings.

OK, I get it.

They will never admit it’s 100,000. Never.

Between Moscow Mitch’s horrific and craven insistence that senators get back to DC to confirm yet more unqualified far-right RWNJ judges, Trump’s attempts to financially and politically profit from the pandemic, and his stonewalling of Dems and blue states as political payback and horse-trading, Dems have get on the offensive and attack these pieces of shit as aggressively as possible, and STOP being afraid that it’ll backfire politically and look too partisan, which is what Repubs want them to think and have succeeded in getting them to think since the 70’s.

What actually does politically backfire is laying low and hoping things blow over, which only convinces voters that Dems are weak and cowardly and can’t be counted on to fight for what they claim to believe in or the best interests of the American people. Which, in fact, is an accurate perception. I’m tired of the political dynamic being an endless and ever-worsening contest between an aggressively evil party that’ll stop at nothing to protect and expand its power and a docile and cowardly party that refuses to fight for anything that truly matters, for fear of centrist voter and big donor backlash.

We can’t put all our eggs in the election basket. Now’s the time to fight, not just November.

Keep in mind that The Orange King is using the Imperial College estimate of 2.2 million deaths ( if we did nothing) as his upper range. Anything below that and he will declare victory.

The authority and also a non-ridiculous rationale. They’re not even trying. Nobody who’s actually doing anything has any time for you meddling kids in Congress, and Dr. Fauci is far too busy at his desk right now putting the new cover sheets on the TPS reports. Maybe at some time of our choosing, being the arbiters of appropriateness that we are, we’ll send one of the interns.

This administration knows no law, so authority on a statutory basis may be out the window, but if Nancy’s ready to wreak a savage vengeance because everyone is all WTF about the federal rote in testing and tracking that would be nice too.

We are committed to working with Congress to offer testimony at the appropriate time.

Reporter: Sir, when would that appropriate time be?

Deere

How about never. ls never good for you?

Someone please explain why it’s wrong to think the US is now a de facto dictatorship. Seriously, when Congressional subpoenas are ignored, when vital information from Fauci is purposely withheld, when shipments of PPE are literally confiscated/seized by the feds, why isn’t this a totalitarian regime? If it waddles like a dictatorship, if it quacks like a dictatorship…

They should go through the motions because it’s very important (like impeachment was important) but …“ain’t nothin gonna happen”.

I think they have already raised the “Mission Accomplished” banner via Kushner’s “The federal government rose to the challenge, and this is a great success story.”

Because we can vote it out.

Good point. Of course Fat Tang and Jarhead already have claimed victory for the 60K deaths, and ignore it rising to possibly 100K (also a victory in their feeble minds).
