So Trump never told Sondland directly that aid was conditioned on the investigations.
That would totally exonerate Trump, if he hadn’t told Zelensky, and the world in releasing the record of the call, that aid was conditioned on investigations. And if Giuliani hadn’t repeatedly said that in public. And if William Taylor hadn’t put that in a text message to Sondland. Except for that stuff, what Sondland said would totally exonerate Trump.
The Rs are now in a position of saying “Look, we found someone who was in the crowd on 5th Avenue when Trump shot someone, and this individual didn’t see it happen! Sure, he heard the shot. Sure, he heard 50 people scream, ‘Trump just shot someone!’ But he didn’t see it. Your honor, you must acquit!”
He even saw trump with the gun, he just happened to blink while the shot was being fired. So obviously acquittal is the only possibility.
Every mafioso who was convicted for saying “Nice restaurant you got there” or “You really need to pay the vig by tomorrow” must be incredibly angry. Or preparing an appeal.
