White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow on Sunday scrambled “reinterpret” President Donald Trump’s comment about having second thoughts about his escalating trade war with China.
I don’t buy it. To have a second thought, one must first have a first thought. Since Trump is unthinking, this is an impossibility.
Trump is manipulating the market.
Well, I’m sure as hell having second thoughts about Donnie. And third, and fourth, and fifth…
None good.
This is so stupid. This trade war is harmful, and – saints be praised! – that fact has somehow penetrated Trump’s thick skull, so his musing in public about second thoughts is Trump laying the groundwork to reverse course. (He has to build up to it, because his whole schtick is dominance and never apologizing or admitting defeat.)
So here comes Larry fucking Kudlow, like a wrecking ball, because god forbid Trump finally reverse course on this colossally stupid policy.
What do you get when you combine a suicide cult with a terrorist cell? The GOP.
Trump is confusing “second thoughts” with “thought for a second” which is just beyond the maximum attention span and ability he posses.
The only question is if he is doing it intentionally, or under the direction of his corrupt friends and associates.
Wonder if all of these people that walk around reinterpreting his royal highness have to get permission first to do so?
He’s doing it for his own financial gain.
Intentional, to helps himself, he doesnt really have friends.
They probably do, but since he speaks in code, and changes his mind unpredictably and with an unsettling frequency, that permission cannot mean very much. They are presumably acting under an assumed carte blanche as long as they are defending him. They can hardly say anything worse than he has already said himself. And no matter what they say, he is going to be mad at them in the end and blame them when it doesn’t work.

Say something , anything, then let those who are stupid enough or immoral enough to attempt to say what he meant and if it meets with his bases approval ,he will take all the credit.
I watched Brianna Keilar interview Larry Kudlow this morning. I would have felt sorry for him if I wasn’t laughing so hard.
Worth looking into.
I know a guy who was in the room for Alan Greenspan’s infamous “irrational exuberance” speech. He’s a VIP, and explained to me afterward (with uncharacteristic modesty) that he’s at least a moderately perceptive observer of the Fed and monetary issues. He heard Greenspan say “irrational exuberance” – and thought nothing of it.
But there was an AEI guy there (which is where the speech was), who promptly left the room and called his broker to short everything – then spent the afternoon calling financial reporters with the background scoop of Greenspan’s “bombshell”.
Trump is simply not a sophisticated guy. But that doesn’t mean nobody around him is nimble – and shrewd.
“During the G7 meeting in France on Sunday morning, Trump said he “might as well” have “second thoughts” about getting more aggressive with his trade war …” “I have second thoughts about everything,” he said.
‘might as well’ have second thoughts? “I have second thoughts about everything.”
He did not have a first thought about that reply. It’s just a bullshit bunch of words not connected to the meaning of the question or to a reasoned answer. That’s how he ‘communicates.’ Nothing but bullshit.
Yup. Telling his rich-fuck friends to sell short.
I predict that no one will cooperate, or respond to a subpoena. And everything will be covered by some form of asserted presidential privilege.
So did Trump get second thoughts on his “hereby order US businesses to stop doing business with China and to look for alternatives”, when he realized it included his family businesses too? How convenient for Trump. Nobody is entitled to those benefits but him.
“I have second thoughts about everything,” he said.
One hopes the GOP is having second thoughts as well.
