White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said on Wednesday night that Neera Tanden, President Joe Biden’s embattled pick for director of the Office of Budget Management (OMB), will be offered another role in the administration if the Senate refuses to confirm her.
I neither like nor dislike her. She’s being judged with an humungous double standard by (mostly) men who’ve been granted unwarranted political power by the sole criterion of being elected by very stupid people.
Apparently an individual needs to have been employed by the Administration for 90 days in order to be named “Acting.” That’s why trump was always moving people around and placing them in positions where he could control them. I guess he could do it down the line.
I’m with The President. (Nice to not have to say “President” ironically…) Don’t let the GQP get Ms Tanden’s scalp for their wall of trophies. Go for confirmation. Plan B only if necessary.
Tanden may not get the slot…but the Biden Administration may have gotten more out of this than if Tanden sailed through. It did not roll over in the presence of GOP Bad Faith
We should all have PTSD from Republican Bad Faith…not just from the Trump and Obama administrations, but the Clinton one as well.
And to lift us up, sometimes a people (or an institution like the Democratic Party) have to institutionalize an aggressively hostile attitude toward Bad Faith (that the GOP excels at).
What the above means, in plain English is this:
(1) Dems learn thoroughly the history and effectiveness of GOP Bad Faith
(2) Dems–across the board–get testy when Bad Faith comes up
(3) Dems–across the board–recognize Bad Faith for what it is
(4) (1) (2) and (3)are written in the Dem Behavior Playbook
