White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley defended President Trump after he drew backlash from both Republicans and Democrats for comparing the House’s impeachment inquiry to a “lynching” in a Tuesday morning tweet.
“Whatever I tweeted didn’t mean what you said it meant. White is black. Up is down. Good is bad. All the best words. All the best people. Everybody stop picking on me. I have such delicate sensibilities.” Signed, President for Life Trump.
Of course, he didn’t. And he wasn’t shaking down Mr. Zelesky. And he believed Mr. Obama was born in America. And Mr. Cohen paid of those women on his own and he had nothing to do with it. And he didn’t know those Ukrainians who appear in so many pictures with him or his family. And emoluments are, of course, phoney. And he’s lost $2B to $5B as President. And his kids, all of them, and Mr. Kushner have not benefited by their proximity to the Office of the President. I just can’t conceive how anyone can eat this shite?
I think what Gidley meant to say was that Trump’s “lynching” comment sounded different in the original German…
We have now reached the point where they are literally saying “what we said earlier today is not actually what we said”…it’s happened multiple times now, and the right wing press is letting them get away with it. That is truly terrifying, we are reaching the point where truth won’t matter, at all, to a segment of the population…there’s a nebulous attachment to truth there now, but more of this kind of comment and it will disappear. Having a large fraction believe only what Trump and his minions say, regardless of how inconsistent, or if they change to the opposite moments later, will make it nearly impossible to put the nation back together.
