They are worse by far, but she’s opened for him.
I would imagine the half-sibs are trying to shut her out. They’re not exactly the Brady Bunch.
I’d have far more respect for her if she’d done a Douglas McArthur, Jr.; changed her name and moved away.
My guess is that after every Trump business and brand is seized, its assets liquidated and its debts repaid under heavy discount, she and her younger half-brother from another mother get named co-trustees of what’s left, with the other 3 frozen out.
Top White House officials pressured the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this summer to minimize the risk of sending children back to school
He wasn’t “minimizing the risk.” That would be what he was SUPPOSED to do. He was lying about the severity of the risk.
BIG difference.
Monsters.
And, yet, here’s Yahoo’s website this morning, shoveling the bullshit …
I think all of this hand-wringing misses the mark: the question is not whether the WH would pressure the CDC to revise its guidance on anything, but why Redfield would go along. We rely on the CDC, FDA, and NIH as a bastion – a firewall – between the political needs of a WH and the health needs and science underlying their roles. Thus far, Fauci has stood steadfast, while Redfield and FDA’s Steve Hahn have too often succumbed to this pressure, leading to a sharp drop in the country’s willingness to listen to them.
Perhaps Redfield was afraid that if he resigned, he’d be replaced by Atlas. Perhaps. But the constant shifting of the CDC’s guidance is head-spinning and incredibly disappointing.
That’s all that can be said.
Trump, too.
Birx will contend that data on children’s mental health justify revisions to CDC guidelines on school closures.
She would be “right,” but she is still phony.
She could alternatively recommend changes to treatment modalities for child mental health services and support. Or, she could craft integrated recommendations that preserve the need to keep children distanced from one another while accommodating mental health needs.
Yet none of that is forthcoming, as it would require policy sophistication beyond what the Trump administration can muster. And, most of all, it does not comport with President Trump’s reelection ambitions.
That’s how you know how fake she is. Working outside of Trump’s reelection strategy doesn’t occur to her.
The elderly AND school children should be willing to die for the economy!!
Evil. Trump, McConnell, and the lot of them.
“You’re exchanging votes for lives, and I have a serious problem with that,” Troye told the Times in an interview."
To which Mark Meadows responded, “You have missplaced your loyalties.”
That quote should have been the headline.
We weren’t designed to have a government full of ‘acting’ supervisors.
You’re all forgetting that Trump is a narcissistic psychopath. Other people aren’t real to him, and don’t matter. Covid-19 is a problem only for him. As such, it’s purely a public relations problem, not a medical one. It’s interfering with his reelection, and, therefore, with his ability to continue to fend off various indictments.
People love to pretend that schools are immune from political pressure, or, when something happens that they don’t like, they love to opine darkly that “it’s all political.” Of course it’s political. Of course schools respond to pressure. They have to respond so that they can function.
That said, I would hate to be in educational administration right now. There is no way to do this job without angering one group or endangering another. The buildings aren’t set up for the numbers of children they serve, and when you try to pretend you can socially distance children in already over-crowded and poorly ventilated buildings, it’s a recipe for disaster.
I fear that flu season is going to be disastrous for people who are being forced to work in school buildings. In an ordinary year, it’s not unheard of for schools to close for a few days because of large flu numbers. Between the numbers, the lack of sanitizing supplies, the inability or outright refusal to vaccinate people, and the bad weather keeping people inside, this year could be disastrous.
I’ve said this before, but anyone who thinks that little kids can observe strict mask requirements, strict hand washing requirements, and social distancing, is someone who has never met any actual children.
The same is true for college students.
WTHell does it TAKE??? He steals from you, he lies to you, he threatens your CHILDREN with his selfish desire to be the ‘big man’. And yet…I’m watching MSNBC and voters in Ohio are all ‘He is disgusting but I might vote for him because I love his policies!’ WHICH policies are THOSE??? The ones where they keep kids in cages while railing against abortion? How about giving the insanely rich a tax break while stealing yours? Health Care? Screwing the poor because they’re not YOU???

she and her younger half-brother from another mother get named co-trustees of what’s left, with the other 3 frozen out.
I suspect they’d be better off to refuse an inheritance which will be mostly debts and lawsuits.
The fact is, though, that while the Constitution was ground-breaking when implemented, the compromises necessary to have it passed – the decisions to have 2 Senators for each state regardless of population, and the “winner take all” Electoral College – have now cemented minority rule.
What we’re going through under Trump, particularly in the Senate, is a recognition that a large number of smaller states is able to stymie the policies wanted by the smaller number of highly populated states. Not sure what can be done about this, but it’s a problem that demands a solution.
