WH Orders Federal Workers To Prepare To Return To Office

The White House signaled to federal departments and agencies to prepare returning workers to offices in a memo on Monday written by Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought.

“Vought’s memo, which was sent to the heads of federal departments and agencies, …

in actuality, was addressed to only a single recipient.”

This should about as well as it has for nursing homes.

By tomorrow it’ll have morphed into a directive for all Federal employees to get back in their offices regardless of any State directives…

This is a fucking death sentence right now unless each worker is issued a box of masks. box of gloves, a gallon of Purell, a gallon of Clorox a 24 pack of paper towel rolls…and the right to sue trump personally for every last fucking dime he has if they get ill with covid.

Article says:

tells federal agencies to plan the reopening of their offices in accordance with state and local guidance.

Whereas headline says:

WH Orders Federal Workers To Prepare To Return To Office

Meanwhile, in the single biggest part of the Feds, an order for 3 million masks to protect the whole workforce will only have a bit over 500K of them delivered by the end of May.

Seems to be a bit presumptive to be saying we’re ready to open when the basic PPE won’t be available for multiple months.

The headline pushes the message that the GOP wants TPM to spread.

What’s missing is that this is not a notice to “return to work” but a notice to “prepare” to return to work.

So that means that maybe people will return to work and maybe they won’t, but the notice will fool plenty of people into thinking that Trump is going to re-open Federal offices soon.

The headline should reflect the distinction – “WH Doesn’t Order Federal Workers Back to Work but Orders Them to ‘Prepare’ to Go Back to Work”

Good thing Trump got a jump on moving departments out of responsible locals around DC to red states that will be more inclined to open early. This gives him a twofer on guting the payroll for these departments. First you got rid of all those that refused to move and now he gets to let the reaper take a crack at those who went along with the move. So much winning!

Let’s cut to the chase here.

  1. Government has been a target since the Reagan years. This plan pursues the same goals of dismantling the whole structure.

  2. They don’t care who dies as long as they die in service to the Trump campaign.

Which is all well and good until the moment that trump realizes that he could just order millions of feds back into the office and have a defacto break-up of the State stay-at-home orders.

I’ve been concerned that they’d discover that backdoor, looks like they did.

Trump’s Guidelines for re-opening the states include a recommendation that states not re-open until they’ve seen a 14 day decline in cases, among other criteria that would establish a decrease in infection risk.

What states have experienced 14 days in a row of defining cases?

Come on, TPM, that should be in this report.

Never to be outdone by anyone, Trump seems hell-bent on creating the greatest TrumPandemic in world history while at the same time, creating a kind of political genocide, wiping out the vast majority of US Government workers in the process.

Well, this is only Round 1 of Trumpy’s demands to reopen every aspect of American business and government. All the writer has to do in the next memo is drop the words local and state governments and insert, the President orders all workers in every state to go back to work IMMEDIATELY! When we as a people refuse…

Next steps will be to deny any $ to states where their unemployment funds have run out. He’ll also even further withhold any health gear in states that don’t repeal their stay at home orders. These two steps may take awhile but one can bet the farm these and other draconian ideas are taking shape.

He also could (try at least) to cut-off SS payments to state residents where that state’s governor doesn’t play ball. Then, he may also move to federalize the National Guard in blue states to intimidate governors and state congessional leaders in their repsective capitols.into acceptance. These and some other extreme measures are what he may take to get his way and who will stop him?

Only one entity in my opinion could stop him cold: The US military, who must rise up and stop this nonsense if the continues to undermine the very underpinnings of our country. Yes, this would be a coup, but one that’s likely to come if he keeps acting up.

If not, we are all truly lost! .

Where in he nation, outside of the White House, are there an adequate number of usable tess to determine if there is, in fact, a decline?
Ot might such a judgment be nothing more than an artifact of our ignorance?

An uncle of mine spent the bulk of his professional years inspecting nursing homes. He was an employee of HHS. It should be evident from the news that nursing homes have not been inspected as vigorously as they once were. (Note the bodies piling up in underused rooms.) We can probably guess who will be sent into harm’s way with a return of federal workers.

Why should TPM perpetuate the notion that Trump gives a fuck about his administrations guidelines if they get in the way of what he wants?
