White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Wednesday denied that President Trump gave White House trade adviser Peter Navarro the green light to publish his caustic USA Today op-ed criticizing Dr. Anthony Fauci.
On Tuesday night, Navarro blasted Fauci in his USA Today op-ed by arguing that the nation’s top infectious disease expert “has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on.”
I think this is the strategy to get awful stuff out there, then say they had nothing to do with it, thereby avoiding responsibility. These folks are stupid, but they’re sneaky!
Well, that was either Navarro hit by bus he should have known would come for him, or all a wink wink denial that ends up in some kind of high visibility job.
Such bullshit. Trump knew and approved this. Technically the WH approval process may not have happened but there is no doubt in my mind Trump gave Navarro the green light.
Translation: we had Navarro float it with the implicit understanding that we would hang him out to dry if the piece didn’t land. Navarro enthusiastically agrees. Next week: Navarro lets Trump piss in his mouth, tells country it’s raining champagne.
Seems like one side of the West Wing does not know what the other side of the West Wing is doing. Some one is going to lose a job. Wondering who will it be?
It does seem like this Admin likes to deflect, deny, deflect, then claim no responsibility to anything that goes out.
Nothing to see here. Ignore the man behind the curtain.
There is an astonishing willingness among the administration and advisors to say and do spectacularly stupid things in service to the Dumpsterfire. It can be painful to watch what - in another time - would be career-ending actions.
