WH COVID Task Force Holds First Briefing In Months As Country Hits Grim Milestone | Talking Points Memo

The White House coronavirus task force is scheduled to hold its first briefing since late April at 4 p.m. ET Thursday. The briefing comes a day after the country passed the grim milestone of more than 250,000 fatalities from COVID-19 and amid surging cases nationwide. Ahead of the upcoming holiday, the CDC advised Americans not to travel for Thanksgiving.

Oh, look, a “briefing” being covered!

My guess is that this is going to be entirely about how Trump himself is personally responsible for the vaccines being developed and deserves, at minimum, three Nobel Prizes, and a second term to compensate him for his incredible genius.

Incredibly STABLE genius!

Let me guess, Trump is going to show up and spend the whole briefing talking about the stolen election.

Months.
Well, that’s understandable. There are only so many ways to say, “I haven’t been doing Jack Shit.”

Not sure briefings are necessary from a task force that doesn’t seem to do any damn tasks. Just saying.

Supposedly Pence doing this conference. Supposedly. But suspect Donald will do the intro.

“Rudy’ll get right on it. I’m a little busy trying to get out of the rough on the 6th hole.”

Is this considered Task Farce Season 3? Or are we still on Season 2? Will Scott Atlas get to wear the sweaty hair dye this time?

The greater Washington region reported more than 5,000 new coronavirus infections Thursday — a record for a single day — with weeks of sustained increases prompting the Smithsonian Institution to close facilities that had reopened to the public.

Maryland, Virginia and D.C. reported 5,077 new cases Thursday amid a national surge that has seen several states set records in recent days. It lifted the Washington region’s seven-day average number of cases to 4,109 — about twice the number being reported at the end of October.

It’s the 16th straight day that the region’s average daily number of cases has hit a record.

The Smithsonian Institution cited the caseload rise Thursday while announcing it will temporarily close eight facilities in the Washington region that had reopened. It did not announce a reopening date, but officials said the closure will last at least through January.

They need him to intone sorrowfully about how sad they all are for the quarter of a million people they killed humoring Trump. He’s got a bright future as a downmarket funeral director, that boy.

Somehow it doesn’t seem too out of character for a guy who cheats at golf to ignore the biggest public health crisis of the 21st Century and try to sue his way into the White House

I cannot believe TPM is covering this when Kamala Harris right now is introducing Biden to speak about their meeting with US governors about the pandemic. FFS…

Vice president (elect) Harris is doing the introductions and explanations for their covid press conference (which explains the timing of this one). President (elect - can’t wait to drop that second part!) is beginning now.

Suppose tRump will listen to that then come in here to give his glorious version?

Biden mentioned supporting “tribal communities.” I was very pleased to hear it. Luhan-Grisham was one of the governors on the call.

I am assuming the briefing will include a full denial of anything going on with the virus, a denial of responsibility for any of the deaths, a blunt claim of the hoax and poor media coverage of same.

After which the task force will hereby be disbanded.

This is about as useful as they can eke out of themselves.

It is so lovely the way Biden consistently refers to Harris, saying “we” have made this decision or that. Just wonderful.
