Earlier Thursday, McConnell said that “we’ll be ready” for an impeachment trial “if it comes over here” after “the action is all over in the House,” according to CNN.

several Republican senators met with White House counsel Pat Cipollone, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner on Thursday morning to discuss impeachment strategy.

Isn’t that jury tampering?

i think it’s clear that Barr will produce false evidence in December that clears Russia and suggests entire Ukraine matter is a plot to discredit president–and sadly, a lot of Americans will buy it. The Senate trial will be a true disinformation campaign. Will Mitt criticize? No. Our democracy honestly feels doomed–becuz once Trump is out of impeachment danger, there will be no remaining check on his and GOP power and they will steal 2020 election with Russian help I fear

And the Trump cult will applaud. Some people just want the comfort of a strong man telling them what to think.

Of course they do. They’re winning this. Now, with the pubic turning in their favor in polling conducting DURING THE HEARINGS, they’re going to want to drag this out as long as possible to take attention away from all of our candidates for House, Senate and POTUS and totally smear the shit out of us for conducting the investigation in the first place. And you know what? We’ll fail to counter message that as hard as we failed to message the impeachment hearings.

What’s a little jury tampering among Republicans.

“One attendee added that the White House and Trump’s GOP allies “want some kind of factual affirmative defense on the merits,” according to Politico.”

“some kind, any kind, whatever distorts and disrupts, even if it changes day to day, hour to hour”

That should be interesting.

So McTurtle and McKevo aren’t talking?

As damning testimony after damning testimony emerges from the House impeachment hearings this week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suggested it was time to shut the whole thing down.

It depends on what was said.

If it was Jared asking Dan Sullivan about his kids, then the conversations were likely clean.

I’m ok either way, because it’ll leak.

At least Chief Justice Roberts wasn’t in on the strategy session …
Will he be briefed later?

This process wasn’t going to be easy and it was always going to be interesting.

I’m ok with what I’m seeing/reading, because though my materials come from a bubble, its clear that this country’s collective IQ is now on the table.

I don’t think a virtual dead heat well within the margin of error means “They’re winning this”.

Would appear House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is out of the loop, or at the very least “out of it.”

What a bizarre report. Not blaming TPM here, or even Politico, but:

(1) “Top White House officials and Senate Republicans have reportedly reached an agreement to hold a full trial”. Why would this need an agreement between the Senate Repubs and the White House? The WH has no say in this – it is up to the Senate. Why would Senate Repubs want to denigrate the Senate so publicly?

(2) “Two attendees told Politico that the White House wants the Senate to hold a trial and to not cut it short”. Uh, no. Someone wants the public to believe that the WH wants a full trial, and wants to make a factual defense, when anyone with half a brain cell knows they don’t (and they don’t have one). A little bit more skepticism please, Politico.

Really? Given the factual informatino we’ve obtained from the witnesses that undeniably shows that Trump essentially set up a shadow gov’t agency outside the actual organizational structure of our gov’t and not subject to any of the laws and regulations regarding the operation of the gov’t (everything from record keeping to oversight by Congress to funding) and then sent it off to bribe and extort a foreign nation to falsely incriminate a US citizen and destroy him and his son for being the biggest political threats to his re-election…in light of all that, all we’ve seen, heard and learned, you think a tie is a good thing?

If you ask him, he even has the timetable worked out: Trial begins at 9AM, three hours of grandstanding by Republicans tripping over themselves to express their unthinking support of the Dear Leader, then an announcement of the not-guilty verdict in time for the Fox evening shows. 9PM, a series of purges, arrests and black-site disappearances begins.
