Iād think twice about taking those calls if I were a house or even senate Repub, as theyāre only going to implicate themselves in the attempted coverup and obstruction, open themselves up to charges and cost them a small fortune in legal fees. Plus lose some of them their seats when theyāre up for reelection. But, theyāre Repubs, meaning that theyāre stupid and corrupt, so theyāll probably go along, bless āem. Only makes Demsā job easier, from a political pov.
What good are the calls when Trumpās lies change frequently and/or the agreed-upon talking points get shot down in testimony?
It is telling, though, that no one is suggesting they deny the charges. Only complain about procedure (who, please tell us, is the president who has complained most about procedural protections for criminals) or try to normalize the crimes.
Almost as in thinking of them as human beings with recognizable and conflicting emotions. If this were a novel, I could see their point of view, even as I root for them to be taken down.
