West Virginia Plans To Pay Young People $100 Savings Bond To Get COVID-19 Shot

It was heartening to read that it wasn’t just Dems that booed him.

I wonder if West Virginia governor Justice has any influence in his state in persuading “look at me!” Sen Manchin to do what we all want and need him to do. I didn’t realize Justice was elected in 2016 as a Democrat, but later switched back to the Republican Party in a campaign rally with Trump. Plus he’s a billionaire, meaning he thinks he’s qualified to be God or POTUS.

Don’t know if this means anything but I’m getting tired of the Manchin situation and believe he’s stoopid enough to really muck things up. Makes me a bit uneasy. Could just be old age.

In recent years West Virginia has upped their game on public health issues. Maybe it took a meth crisis to get there. They expanded Medicaid under the ACA, one of the few more rural states to immediately do so in 2010.
There was an article last year about how many West Virginian women have been pulled into the health care industries as essentially the second breadwinner.

The irony, i can’t quite grasp. It’s too much.

I’m sure Manchin’s presence in the Senate hangs like a pall over internal White House policy discussions.

Fun fact: Jim Justice is the only billionaire in the state.

Oh, gosh, I forgot all about that – sugar cube to sucker us in and by the time we realized how nasty it was, it was all melted and down our throats!

Stood in line at a school for mine, an orange liquid in a little plastic cup. Don’t recall it tasted all that bad.

Mine was pink, looked yummy, but it wasn’t.

Wasn’t there an old saying about the one-eyed guy in the land of the blind?

The 1976 Swine flu outbreak. As a teenager I stood in line at one of our high schools for the vaccine. Some of the issues with it that were on nightly news didn’t matter to us nor the jokes by Johnny Carson or on SNL every week.

Once we got it into the kiddies’ ice cream, things really took off. (h/t General Ripper)

It doesn’t cost $100 to give someone a $100 savings bond. It matures in the future so the actual cost must be discounted.

Well, at least it won’t take up much (0:00.00) instructional time.

You know, giving a man three squares and a bed to sleep in should come with the right to beat him once in awhile. Right?

Evidently he would rather his constituents live than die, so yeah, I’m surprised too. On the other hand we have Joe Rogan, who advises young people not to get vaccinated. Who the fuck, you inquire, is Joe Rogan? I didn’t know either. At this point I know he’s a guy with a lot of muscles and tats who says stuff on the Internet. Me, I think at any life stage I would have been saying DO NOT WANT to covid and would be, as I am now, bouncing in my chair in eagerness for two days to pass so the second shot would be today.
