Citizen’s United was designed for this guy. A blank check to turn the country into a cash machine for shits in the name of Jesus.
Eat the rich.
Hey that’s Sean Fain! Wasn’t he the political leader of the Irish Republican Army?
Thomas … Alito
And giving a critical, complicated case on national security to a judicial novice like Cannon…?
Big, big, big problems with our judicial system. Originalism died with the thirteen colonies.
Excellent reporting by Pro Publica as always. I’d just like to add that Matt Blunt’s COS Ed Martin is the guy that cause Phyllis Schlafly to separate herself and Phyllis’ Eagle Forum from her daughter. I loved it when they were fighting among themselves.
I barely remember kindergarten. You know why? Because I moved on.
Anyone in their second half-century of life still nursing pet grievances and lashing out at the world seriously needs a therapist, not a multi-billion dollar machine at their disposal.
Give this freak a matchbox car, a pat on the head, and send him packing.
Leo and his organizations have corrupted both the federal and state judiciaries with religious idealogues. Matt Kacsmaryk is a notable example.
The rot goes DEEEEEP!
Religion is only their cover. In practice, they do not exemplify Jesus’ teachings in the least. Unless they believe Ayn Rand is Jesus.
OT: WaPo is on to LecturnGate. I must say that TPM’s reporting has been much clearer and more informative. At least the national press is beginning to catch on.
That’s how the right wing wants it… No talk about Leo. It would be great however, if the Mainstream Media started talking about him and the Federalist Society’s abuse of the judicial in the US,
From the article:
From his rarefied position, [George] Conway watched Leo become what he called a “den mother” to the justices. In liberal Washington, conservatives — even the most powerful ones — believed themselves to be misunderstood and unfairly maligned. Leo saw it as his responsibility, Conway said, to help take care of the judges even after they had made it to the highest court in the country. “There was always a concern that Scalia or Thomas would say, ‘Fuck it,’ and quit the job and go make way more money at Jones Day or somewhere else,” Conway said, referring to the powerful conservative law firm. “Part of what Leonard does is he tries to keep them happy so they stay on the job.”
my bolded “den mother.”
Got that wrong, George, Leo is a pimp. I know, he’d probably say “pimp for Christ.” But that would just be tacky and heretical. So, George – whatchagonna do about it?
How do we solve a problem like Lenny Leo?
I was thinking about this issue just the other day in relation to our flag. The American flag has 13 stripes, 7 red stripes, and 6 white stripes. Each stripe represents one of the original 13 colonies that formed the very first United States of America. I was wondering if those stripes were individually assigned to each of the 13 colonies. Fot example, does red stripe #3 represent Virginia? Does white stripe #2 represent Pennsylvania? Did the colonists argue over who gets to be red, and who gets to be white? Did the citizens of North Carolina declare that they wanted to be a white state, or a red state? If so, then that argument still persists today.
Our judicial system is by the rich, of the rich and for the rich. It is completely irredeemable. It will require a thorough dismantling and reimagining a system to support the common man.
Yeah, because the Leo Mob is going after them (MM) next:
(from the article:)
Having reshaped the courts, Leo now has grander ambitions. Today, he sees a nation plagued with ills: “wokism” in education, “one-sided” journalism, and ideas like environmental, social and governance, or ESG, policies sweeping corporate America. A member of the Roman Catholic Church, he intends to wage a broader cultural war against a “progressive Ku Klux Klan” and “vile and immoral current-day barbarians, secularists and bigots” who demonize people of faith and move society further from its “natural order.”
Leo has the money to match his vision. In 2021, an obscure Chicago businessman put Leo in charge of a newly formed $1.6 billion trust — the single-largest known political advocacy donation in U.S. history at the time. With those funds, Leo wants to expand the Federalist Society model beyond the law to culture and politics.
