The California curfew doesn’t really create any new rules or restrictions that are not already in effect. Counties in the purple tier (almost all California counties are in purple, the most restrictive tier) already have to close by 10 pm. The stay-at-home orders issued in March still exist, but people ignore them. The curfew is really a way to wake people up and get them to realize we are in a setious situation that will soon impact our hospitals if people don’t change their behaviors. in San Diego County, the health department finally got the sheriff dept off their asses, and will start doing some enforcement with citations and cease-and -desist orders. they have issued over 50 since Monday. The covid-deniers are rallying and encouraging businesses to “resist” and disobey the order. There will now finally be some consequences.

Let’s say we average 2000 per day for the next 62 days.
Using Johns-Hopkins data as a starting point, that’s 252,290 + 62 * 2000 = 376,290.
Unless governors really clamp down DAMN SOON, that’s what we’re looking at.

When I agree with David Frum.
Regardless of whether Joe Biden is inaugurated on Jan 20, I’ve lost all faith in the Constitution. It won’t save us, no more than our norms saved us, no more than Mueller “saved” us.
Only we can save ourselves. I’m out for now. That it has gotten this far is a testament to the inadequacy of our system to deal with a charlatan who has a committed following.
ETA And to top it off Worldometers now has us at 2011 deaths today. All of this could have been avoided except for stupid and arrogant GOP leadership. Fuck them all to hell!
