You are right, that person seemed more enthusiastic than you usually see.
Question, though… it seems like there’s been a noticeable shift to more in-person sign-language interpreters recently. I remember seeing them regularly on TV when I was a kid, but after closed captioning took over, I haven’t seen many live interpreters until recently. Does anyone know if there’s been a change in regulations or a shift in thinking about which is better? Just curious.

Good question, but I don’t know the answer! I get the impression it may be easier than super-quickly providing closed captioning, particularly for something live like this.

One item to note: the Wolverines (the name of the terrorist cell) are also the official name of the University of Michigan football teams. MSU and Ohio State fans, you know what to do…and Putin better get nervous, since the kids in Red Dawn called their resistance cell “The Wolverines!”
