Angered by the lack of criminal prosecutions against his political enemies, President Donald Trump wants to use the fruits of a U.S. attorney’s investigation of the intelligence community for his 2020 reelection campaign, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
Trump knows more than the Grand Jury and any jury really. They’ve heard all the evidence and made their decisions. He’s heard all the voices in his head.
He thinks it is his right to order federal agencies to do oppo research on any of his opponents. He has that magical article 2 power that says he can do anything. This is less a bombshell than it should be. It is how he acts and who he is -an aging, cognitively impaired mob boss.
It is tRump’s belief that there is no reason not to manufacture “evidence” that will implicate any and all of those who haven’t jumped thu his hoops of disrespected, dismayed or disagreed with him at any time in the past. No evidence is no problem Manufacture it.
It is exactly what he wanted Ukraine to do.
Huber ended his probe of various Clinton-related stories without much to show for his work, the Post reported in January.
Trump was enraged by Huber’s fruitless review …
“There was nothing to find and he found nothing. That’s unacceptable.”
Another frustration for Trump: the continued lack of criminal charges against former FBI Director James Comey. But in August, several reports indicated prosecutors concluded that charges weren’t appropriate for Comey.
“There was nothing to charge him with and they didn’t charge him. That’s fucking unacceptable.”
“Charge my perceived enemies and those who tell the truth NOW! I order it !!!”
NY is a threat to national security; POTUS planning to damage his own intelligence agencies is good campaigning. Is anyone paying attention? We get what we deserve unless we demand better.
You’ve got nothing to take to a Grand Jury let alone to get indictments, so just make it up. There are enough suck ups around to let you do it. Black sites and torture were fine though, right Mitch?
I do not believe that Trump will be capable of being on the Ballot in November. It is what he is doing to US that is the real story.
Last night, Rachel had a Yale Professor on who gave her a small sample of a very valuable book on how to counteract dictators. That interview should be accessed by all.
(1) It contained many of the sentiments expressed by you, me and other optimistic-writing posters
(2) The tenor of most of the posts here is dead wrong on the path going forward. Pessimism goes nowhere in fighting dictators.
Again, everyone should access that interview that Rachel Maddow had with the Yale Prof last night.
Trump uses talk about investigations, even in the absence of actual investigations. Attack, attack, attack. Never let up. Never stop. That gives the Fox News echo chamber plenty of fodder, as well.
And investigations can always be started: all someone has to do is file a lawsuit, whether it has merit or not. Then add that to the echo chamber and the attacks. Trump learned all this from Roy Cohn, and has dutifully practiced the methods for years, and with success, if you measure success by dollars.
