Every GOP Senator should have to answer to this and if they agree with Trump or not. If not, then what are they doing about it.

Trump has always ruled by fear alone, not love and most certainly not respect. It appears, by the hour, he is less and less feared by his own people. As such, I expect many more of these stories to break and pretty rapidly at that.

They say you meet the same people on the way up as you do on the way down. I hope Trump, however, meets some new people. Mainly wardens and prison guards.

In a strange sort of way this is adding insult to injury.

I remember that a few months ago Nancy Pelosi was predicting that Spankee would self-impeach and all kinds of folks were rolling their eyes and tearing out their hair.

Although she couldn’t have predicted this specific situation, she was right about him self-impeaching. And he’s got Ghouliani there pouring even more accelerator on the dumpster fire.

Has it really only been a week??? My dog…

So basically the only technicality that prevents Trump from legally being a traitor is that congress hasn’t declared war on Russia. Good to know.

It makes his performance in Helsinki, where he publicly accepted Putin’s denials while throwing our own Intelligence community under the bus in front of a global audience, all the more angering. It appears my level of disgust for him is bottomless.

Time and again… projection as always. It’s time to SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY dial up the pressure on Republicans in Congress. They need to be asked to take a clear position on this activity at every instance when they are in public.

Emptywheel is particularly sharp on this https://www.emptywheel.net/2019/09/27/hidden-trump-admitted-2016-russian-interference/

What’s additionally worrisome: we’re learning in a rather slapdash fashion as the proverbial rats flee the sinking S.S. Trump — like the ‘three former officials with knowledge of the matter’ cited as sources for this story. How many of them have already been monitored by foreign intelligence, marked as potential assets, witting or unwitting, because they are known to have participated in this secret content sequestration process?
How many of these ‘former officials with knowledge of the matter’ have been silent because of Trump’s obsessive use of nondisclosure agreements?
How many of them have talked among themselves — neaning others under Trump’s NDAs — about this secret content sequestration process and its contents?
How many of this circle of need-to-know or in-the-know are also GOP leadership like Senator Mitch McConnell or Senator Lindsey Graham? How many of them have already been compromised because of this knowledge?
It’d certainly explain a few things like McConnell’s refusal to do anything substantive about election security. Or Graham’s about-face after a round of golf with Trump.

Key observations:

  1. The first person to ask questions in the House impeachment hearings should be Barry Berke, not any US representative.

  2. Before the questions begin, the Chair should instruct witnesses: this is not an ordinary Committee hearing. You will be asked about matters of fact. Confine your answers to statements of fact, yes and no.

  3. The elected Representatives on both sides should not begin questioning any witness until the fact situation has been defined and clarified.

  4. Democratic (that is, the majority) staff of the Committee(s) should have checklists of facts established by witness answers to specific questions, shared on social media in real time.

Anyone know if there are any organized efforts for the public to confront congress while on recess (ie. Republicans). I’ve already written to all my Reps just before all this went down and I don’t have any Republican representation, but Democrats would be very smart to apply grassroots pressure.

Good points.

We should all remember that Trump needs enablers and he has special talents for getting compliance with his directives.

With Trump, the word “corrupt”, operationally, has more use to him as a verb, than an adjective.

THAT’S the basis of the compliance
