Dick’s Sporting Goods reports an uptick in its business since making a similar move. There is a way forward.

This is bigger than it seems. Along with Dicks not selling firearms - the market then moves to specialty gun stores. Good for ‘them’ - but they’re going to be charging much higher prices than WalMart.

Higher prices means less ammo in circulation.

Yup - baby steps.

Gotta be grateful for small progress.

Ammosexuals should rest assured that they are not going to struggle to find ammo for their shooting sticks, it will just mean two stops: one for the PBR and chips another for the ammo…

From the Walmart CEO announcement:

“As it relates to safety in our stores, there have been multiple incidents since El Paso where individuals attempting to make a statement and test our response have entered our stores carrying weapons in a way that frightened or concerned our associates and customers. We have also had well-intentioned customers acting lawfully that have inadvertently caused a store to be evacuated and local law enforcement to be called to respond. These incidents are concerning and we would like to avoid them, so we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores or Sam’s Clubs in states where “open carry” is permitted…”

“Requesting” It’s a cinch every gun nut in the nation is going to march down to their local Walmart and defy this “request”. If it’s not store policy it’s worthless.

Bullshit. Real hunters use calibers that take down a deer quickly. .223/5.56 doesn’t have the stopping power and causes unnecessary pain and suffering. Plus the sprawl (where the bullet fragments and bounces around the body) can ruin the meat.

It was designed that way to take out humans, by causing traumatic injuries that can’t be recovered from. Not to take down an animal that you’re planning for dinner.

Agree, but some gun owners will make the sacrifice.

It was reported that the Odessa, Texas shooter lived in a trailer with no running water or electricity — yet he owned an AR-15 semi-automatic gun, which is kinda pricey.

I was told video games were the problem.

Are you saying it wasn’t the video games?

Another situation -where because Republicans in red states and the national level and SCOTUS choose to do nothing while innocent Americans die -it’s up to Corporate America to lead the way. Similar to their boycotting certain states due to their retrograde stance on issues such as gay rights, abortion, or the environment.

Good. If conservatives were sane, this is exactly what they’d want. While any gun can be used to kill people, that’s the primary purpose of assault rifles and handguns.

But they’ve been trained to oppose everything liberals want, so they now insist that guns are the real victims of gun violence and the only possible solution is more guns. Not because it makes sense, but because it’s the opposite of what liberals want and that’s all they understand anymore.

The new thinking is mass shootings are caused by teaching evolution where we learned apes carried assault weapons…

And vote Republican, straight ticket.

Gotta take whatever help we can get from the marketplace. Even Walmart.

Will Trump ‘order’ them to start selling all guns and ammo now, along with not engaging in trade with China? Will ammosexuals boycott? Walmart is big enough to deal with either thing short-term … and short-term is all either would be (Trump doesn’t have the attention span and ammosexuals don’t know anyplace else to go for most of their other stuff).

They’re just doing what their voters want. That’s how democracy is supposed to work. If every Republican in Congress worked with Democrats for sensible solutions, they’d all be voted out and replaced with crazier people. And rightly so. Politicians should obey their constituents, not the other way around.

Getting sensible laws first requires us to have a real discussion with conservatives, not because it has much hope of success, but it’s all we’ve got. Limbaugh and preachers run the Republican Party. Their politicians are just following orders.

Although, hardcore ammosexuals do their own reloading, the amount of rounds they have to fire in order to make it fun is enormous, so it’s the cost if they buy the tools and the material they can reload their own ammunition for a fraction (a sixth I’ve heard) of the cost of purchased ones. And they even have some extra fun while doing it and experimenting with their different loads, they learn loading tables by heart and like to brag about their creations with fellow minded ammosexuals.

But a .308 isn’t gonna leave much left of that squirrel!
