Walmart To Remove Video Game Displays, Not Guns, From Its Stores

In the wake of one mass shooting and the threat of another in its stores this week, Walmart has made the courageous decision to remove violent video game displays — but not actual guns — from its stores.

Hallelujah! I no longer have to walk around in constant fear of being accosted by a video game-wielding assailant. Thank you, Walmart!

Yes, I, like many others, have always been terrified by violent videogames lurking around in dark corners.

I can sleep better tonight.

They couldn’t even muster more than a token effort for their token effort.

I don’t recall hearing anyone say that they think the problem here is video game advertising… or is it the case we don’t even need to play the game to be transformed into a murderous gunman?

This is Walmart saying that 22 people just were murdered in their store and they don’t care.

It’s raining outside. I got wet. So I turned off all the water to my house.

ETA, What the fuck is wrong with these people?

But the Walton family loves them some Trumpy tax cuts.

I know it has probably been said, but all across the world people play video games, violent or otherwise. Yet the only distinction between most of the rest of the world and the USA is our weak gun regulations and pro-gun economics and policies.
It is the same with movies, music and books. Guns are killing people. Yes people can be fatally stabbed but not at the same rate as semi-automatic and non-automatic guns. It is riskier being in an area with guns than without guns. The only thing that makes gun free zones dangerous are the introduction of guns and mal-intent. Why does that right to liberty have to be infringed on by those that demand to have guns? How much economic potential was cut short permanently because of gun violence?

One more reason among thousands never to set foot in a Walmart.

Who buys real video games in Walmart, anyway? Guns and ammo… legions!

I go in every once in a great while to get a wastebasket or a pair of sandals but this is just an insult. Doing nothing would have been a much less provoking response. Fuck you, Waltons. Not one nickel do you get from me.

In my rare, once-or-twice-a-year forays into WalMart, I go in with that Hope no one I know sees me feeling that used to accompany sneaking into the X-rated shelves of the video store.

Let’s also be clear, it doesn’t state that they are removing the video games, but rather the advertising displays for the video games. They will continue to market the games that they obviously consider to be the root of this violence… just not in advertising displays.

Back in the 90s, I guess, there was an incedent where someone hosed down another with those new toy water guns called “Super Soakers”. The hosed down-ee responded with a real gun, killing the toy gun user. There was spontaneous outrage and a sudden call to outlaw…yep, Super Soaker Water Guns.

If we reach a tipping point on guns it’ll be because of a 239 pound disgrace.

And you know, I was thinking, it would be really really fun if it became a thing, hashtag, movement, whatever, that we’ve decided to demand ESRB ratings of “H” for certain websites. 4chan, Daily Stormer…all of them…if “violent video games” and “violent music” and “violent movies” have to suffer it, then why shouldn’t some asshat’s anti-semitic white supremacy mass shooting incubator on the intertubes? Fuck them. Rate the motherfuckers for the content on their sites…“R” for violence…“H” for hate…18+ because children, particularly lost, vulnerable, isolated high school kids, shouldn’t be exposed to anti-semitic global conspiracy theories and demands for a white ethno-state that they can’t yet properly process. The GOP literally has no answer to this demand other than to light their hair and attempt to generate hysteria over “liberals trying to kill free speech” while simultaneously supporting the stigma system foisted onto the entertainment industry. Again, fuck them. This is a losing battle for them and either way…a ratings system that stigmatizes internet hate cess pools OR the renewed effort to get rid of ESRB…we’d be getting something we want.

NO MERCY. NO QUARTER.

The Clydesdale hitch couldn’t drag me in to a Wal-Mart. The indoctrination that they have perpetrated on a gullible public is amazing; even as much as the R party is for America. Their prices aren’t any better than any other mass retailer and their service is nonexistent. I hear you have to check yourself out since clerks are too expensive to keep employed!

Just how in the hell did the guy who shot up the El Paso market walk around with an assault rifle or the guy in Springfield, MO walk around heavily armed and no employees did anything?

I think Target and Wal-Mart need to swap names.
