I look at that photo of Walker, and I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost. I mean, he signed up for this, and the allegations of abusiveness seem to have legs. Certainly limits empathy. But I find it hard to believe anybody, even the former moron, could spend two minutes talking to this guy and think, “Yep, there’s our Senator.” He seems like a deeply damaged, not-too-bright football player who’d lose in a debate with a Speak and Spell.
No forgiveness is needed for that which is deserved.
I think of Herscheled as the repeated denial, petard hoisting, and retrenching on a 24-hour or less cycle.
Hate is a strong word. It reverberates into the universe but is applicable here so you are more then forgiven and here by absolved.
Ms. Marcotte at Salon shows why this will not alienate “Christian” Right Wrong voters
Trump showed Republican voters are fine with sexual freedom — for straight conservative men
…The abortion issue is not and never has been about “life.” Abortion bans are about controlling women and punishing female sexuality, full stop. Walker is a straight cisgender man and a Republican. That means, as far as the Christian right is concerned, he can do whatever he wants when it comes to sex. …
TFG manages to find people to endorse that, by comparison, make him look smarter. That ain’t easy folks. In Walker’s case, he probably got an assist from CTE. I think the fool running for Gov in PA ate too many lead paint chips as a kid or something. Trump’s entire posse MTG, Gohmert, Jordan, et al have a cumulative IQ of 27. They make up for the lack of intelligence by having no discernable morality.
Hewitt is famous for throwing interviewees lifelines that are framed as probing questions. This particularly contortionate one says is there anyone we pretty much know all the circumstances of except her name and and for God’s sake you obviously knocked her up and paid for an abortion and sent her a nice little card awwww and do you need to be forgiven for anything like that which by the way is the obvious frame to discuss it in so you can put this the hell behind you, you moron? Pretty much that. He did that with Trump all the time but like Trump, Walker is too dumb, stubborn, and out of touch with reality to acknowledge the favor and go with it. If he were really a student of what works with MAGA America he’d say, “I never knocked that woman up, because I was sexually assaulting someone else at the time who dressed provocatively so come on, what would you have done?”
Well then in that case… it’s all Hershel all the time going forward. Republicans don’t let anyone run for office unless they have several easily verifiable scandals they can deny. Just one good apple in the bunch would make them all look even worse.
The age of the victim.
Now we know what would have happened, how the GOP would have reacted, if it fell out that Trump had paid for abortions.
He only proves what Dad always said to me.
“Son, when the little head gets hard the big head gets soft…”
Funnily enough they don’t seem to like the holding on to classified documents too much. But we’ve got a whole vast range of other things MAGA voters seem to be OK with if they like a guy. If you’ve ever tried to get a friend not to make a huge mistake with someone that friend is involved with it’s IMHO a similar dynamic.
I think you might say MAGA voters tend to be color blind about the complexities of things. They just don’t see it. They’ve been fed pre-digested simplistic propaganda for so long it’s become a worldview. They just don’t understand the sorts of issues that come up in any kind of governance, the different constituencies whose interests have to be weighed, the number of 51-49 decisions you have to make as you consider a range of factors. If you go to a municipal meeting once you get that, if you have ears to hear, but they mostly don’t.
Indeed.
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’ Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’
Matthew 7:21-23
Hugh Hewitt Asks Walker Straight Up If There’s ‘Anything You Need To Be Forgiven For’
WALKER: “… uh I apologize for not selecting women who knew how to keep their mouth shut”
And let’s be honest about it: that he was a football player who scored a bunch of touchdowns back in the 1980s and a “friend” of Donald Trump was only part of it. That he was a malleable “conservative” “Republican” willing to run against Warnock and just happened to also be Black was surely a factor in his getting the nomination and support of the party. Edit to add: Affirmative Action, Republican style.
Look, that videotape is from yesterday. He’s changed since then. He’s grown much closer to Jesus.
What’s that you say? It’s from five minutes ago? Hey, five minutes is a long time, spiritually speaking.
