Democracy? The United States of America is failing. What kind of Democracy restricts the rights of its citizens to vote? Well, not all citizens. Just those the good ol boys find objectionable. Race, religious beliefs and gender are all subject to these “morons” view of democracy. I CANNOT comprehend their point of view. I CANNOT understand the concept of telling someone their RIGHT (not privilege!) to vote as an American citizen depends on some idiotic belief that ‘white’ is superior. At this point those of us who want to see our country continue to strive for a better world will have to do all we can to work over these fools who are calling themselves “patriots”. If they succeed in passing legislation at the state level we may have to comply with foolish laws and beat them at their own game. With determination, effort and belief we can win.
If we just get a majority in the House…
If we just win the Presidency…
If we just get a bigger majority in the Senate…
I’m really not sure how much longer the Democratic base is going to put up with the “if we just get” promises. Republicans act like they win in a landslide if it’s just one vote. Democrats fear acting like they’re in the majority.
There are some sites I cannot look at on my phone which does not have an ad blocker installed that functions correctly (not for lack of trying). They are so plastered with ads I cannot read anything. Even cnn does whole page ad overlays, even on my laptop which has an ad blocker, and to me is exactly like someone talking over someone else. It’s rude, inconsiderate and downright nasty. Go to something Chris Cillizza posts on cnn and watch the whole page overlay appear asking if you want crap sent to you each morning or not. No matter how many times I decline this shit keeps reappearing. It’s annoying so I avoid reading Cillizza’s screeds because of it,
Not too many years ago, VRA passed with overwhelming congressional approval. Including Rs.
The current quest for bipartisanship requires the (so called) moderate Rs’ cooperation. I know this sounds crazy, but folks in those states should be pressuring their Repub reps to support voting rights again.
Ain’t it the Truth! Republicans haven’t won the popular vote since 2004 and we’re still walking on eggshells around the Trumpanzies like they’re a real threat. Sad.
I’ve decided that all of this, the preening, the nonsense is all an attempt to be The Maverick everyone pretended John McCain was. She wants to be the media darling that he was, the go-to on all matter of bipartisan-y stuff. The first problem with that is that she’s really, just extraordinarily bad at it. No one believes this act. Like not a single person believes she’s got some deep convictions about the damn filibuster. The second problem is that THIS IS NOT THE FUCKING TIME. The country, democracy is hanging by a thread, Democrats are desperately trying to right the ship, and she’s trying to get booked on all the Sunday shows.
“A Race Against Time” eh?
Welp, I find as my years advance that “racing against time” is a futile effort at best. I do hope though that our federal government can see clear to defend our right (a right should not require someone’s permission) to vote. It’s only the foundation of who we are as Americans.
Maybe. I think she just knows it will get her a fat FAT salaried job when she gets booted out of office by an angry Dem electorate…moreso than if she sticks to any seemingly liberal principles and doesn’t play ball with the lobbyists and influence purchasers who have been sending her money to do their bidding over the past 7 months…and she couldn’t give a flying sideways fuck about anyone but herself. She’s not getting reelected. She’s going to a lobbying job. She knows this and wants to make sure it’s the highest paying one she can get.
Sinema cast herself as a progressive in a very red state, but as with most politicians she’s just a base liar, I had hopes for her but she’s lost my vote.
