Vindman Lawyer Letter | Talking Points Memo

National Security Council official Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is defending himself from a Fox News guest accusing him of “espionage.”

Great letter, if fox were any other network they would do the honorable thing. But I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a positive response. They have no moral core, else they would not exist in the way that they do. If corporations are indeed people, fox news is a real low life.

I think he should at all times be referred to as “Torture Enthusiast John Yoo”.

Hey, we’re not the fire department, you know: we’re just a simple arsonist.

UC-Berkeley might want to consider John Yoo’s continuing employment at their School of Law.

I have little confidence in the integrity of Fox News or their willingness to do the right thing, but this was a smart move.

Somebody tell Lt Col Vindman that if he feels the need to seek redress through the courts, a gofundme page to finance the suit might be fruitful. TLDR: I would pay money to see that happen.

Come now. If the Supreme Court has taught us anything, it’s that the exercise of the law is a completely academic exercise that doesn’t actually need to intersect with real lives and real consequences.

So if a South Korean company asks Yoo, a private citizen not currently working for the US government (thank god), for his opinion of Hunter Biden, he’s therefore a spy, according to his use of the term? I don’t see how it could be otherwise. And this guy’s supposed to be some kind of legal genius? The guy who contended that it’s lawful to torture and murder a child, and that torture was lawful? He’s a horrible person and a really bad lawyer, like Rudy, who btw was also not working for the US government, so it’s literally not possible to spy on him. Where do these monsters get their bearings?

Yes, it’s hard to see Yoo’s torture analysis as anything other than a cover-story-for-hire.

If Fox were to issue a retraction or modify the story, it wouldn’t be the result of any “honorable” review process.

It would be because of their calculation of attorney’s fees, the risk of unfavorable publicity and the possibility of a jury verdict against Fox if Lt. Col. Vindman’s attorneys file a defamation lawsuit.

Why? They knew he had authored the justifications for torture that G.W. Bush used during his tenure, and they still hired him. Sounds like they are okay with that type of discourse. First amendment, blah blah blah. I used to think Berkeley was better than that until they hired Yoo.

And let’s not forget that Stanford hired Condoleeza Rice…

I haven’t. Never figured out how the left coast elites thought giving their prestige as cover for the worst people was a good thing.

I have mixed feelings about this - for LTC Vindman’s sake, a full retraction by Fox is probably the best outcome, but a dark corner of my soul would like to see Fox News and News Corp crushed in court for their libel against a brave, patriotic American.

There is no low Faux won’t go.

Until we get a functioning FCC under a new and functional government, who will be willing to sanction or yank Faux’s license to broadcast with these types of lies consistently on their air ways, we’re stuck with the toxic sludge that is Rupert Murdoch’s propaganda outlet. However in the meantime, good luck to Vindman’s lawyer. I hope they get real results for this injustice against Vindman. Sadly, smear by Faux is their stock-in-trade. The only thing missing has been accountability.

They should send Yoo to the Hague to do research on war crimes, they might be able to give him some practical legal training on the subject – first hand.

Yoo is a fucking hack who floated up way above his pay grade. Shitty people in government guarantee shitty government.

Fuck republicans.

Maybe their Law School would like to set a debate between Yoo and _________?
Topics to include powers of the Presidency.
Lying to Congress.
Legal rolls of the 3 branches of government.
