Originally published at: Vance Would Rather Have Trump ‘Offend’ Everyone Than Focus On Policy
Vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) on Wednesday dismissed the concerns of Republicans who have been urging former President Donald Trump to stay on message and focus on policy rather than personally attacking Vice President Kamala Harris. Since President Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris, Trump has been flailing as he attempts to…
Damn right, JD. Don’t let anything get in the way of ol’ man’s raving rants.
Follow that winner right over the edge!
The American Nazi Party in full view.
What policy? No one can seem to name one policy position Trump has.
(because he doesn’t have a singular one.)
He has one setting–a$shole.
That’s it. That’s his whole shtick.
You hate to see it… The two people that need most to change tactics are the ones at the top of the ticket, and one of them only listens to Trump and Peter Thiel and the other one is Trump and doesn’t listen to anyone.
Oh yeah! Go baby go!
Give drump more reasons to dig the ticket into a whole!
Undermine his handlers who are begging him to stop being so weird!
Push back on your own campaign staff!
Campaign in disarray!
From the bottom of my heart, thanks JD, you fucking idiot!!
Point of contention: Donald Trump does not, actually, tell the truth.
Okay, so why isn’t the New York Times demanding a long sit-down exclusive interview? Why aren’t all the media outlets demanding to see policy position papers?
And since the Convicted Felon Candidate keeps “showing us who he is”, why, oh why isn’t the political media actually reporting it? The repetitive language, the old fake stories over and over, the lies, the brain spasms right out of Bizarro World, the ludicrous ideas like “he’ll make all the prices go down”…
Why doesn’t this get the microscopic treatment? What can we, as readers and viewers, to to demand it?
Vance accepts that Trump is only competent as an attack dog; any other role would be playing to Trump’s weaknesses.
Surrogates like Conway and McCarthy want Trump to give the press something so they will stop beating up on the GOP ticket for having a one-word platform (“dictatorship”). They don’t want a pivot, just one or two scraps to help the news-talkers break the unflattering narrative about the GOP ticket being an undisguised and brazen effort to conquer and dismantle honest government.
Trump disagrees with normies like Conway & McCarthy. Presumably, he believes that the ZFE will continue to meet him 150% of the way.
For the record, Trump and Vance are right. Conway & McCarthy don’t need to worry so much. Rich-owned media can be counted on to help their masters’ pet reach the finish line.
Vance said during a campaign rally in Byron Center, Michigan. “We’d much rather have an American president who is who he is, who’s willing to offend us, who’s willing to tell us the truth, who isn’t a fake who hides behind a teleprompter but lets the American people see exactly who he is.”
Just like we all got to see and here Donnie’s Zoom calls to Bill Barr about the Mueller report and investigation, taking in the scurrilous materials about the Bidens Rudy’d picked up in Ukraine, urging investigations of Hunter Biden and demanding action on TFG’s imagined election irregularities in 2020.
ETA: “Whaddaya mean, ‘The most transparent administration in history didn’t conduct those calls on Zoom?’”
Well it seems to be working just fine so far, JD. As a great president once said, please proceed.
Well, actually, Donnie has a whole book of policies; but, now that he’s disowned Project 2025, I’m afraid he can’t talk about them.
“The winning formula for President Trump is very plain to see: It’s fewer insults, more insight …."
Years ago there was a volume in the local bookstore titled “The Wisdom of Ronald Reagan.” It consisted of about 300 blank pages.
I would suggest a perfect companion to that book, similarly comprised of blank pages, would be “The Insights of Donald Trump.” And like all his other books, it too would be ghostwritten.
OK, got it. Dems are supposed to get bogged down in policy specifics (which they love to do anyway, let’s not encourage them), but Trump can just indulge in name-calling and talk about electric sharks and the late, great Hannibal Lecter.
Shorter Vance:
It doesn’t matter what we say and do. We have loyalists who will rig the vote, find alternate electors, refuse to certify and intimidate voters in blue regions. We got this.
“The reason people love him is because he is his own man, he is unfiltered and he lets the American people see who he is,"
So JD, we’re in agreement that he’s an asshole?
The press has only ever served its owners. In the days of print they may have served the advertisers, but they were always political. It’s a loss leader.
This is great - Vance is such a lickspittle, he’d rather keep TFG happy than win and will continue to double-down in encouraging TFG’s misbehavior.
Let the vicious cycle begin!
TFG makes Reagan look like Einstein in comparison. I loathed (and continue to loathe) Reagan with a passion, but he was considerably more politically astute than a one-trick pony who was able to leverage his narcissism into a one-time win.
