Cancelling civil liberties is one sure way to reduce the temperature and give peace a chance.
Has this guy ever listened to himself? Has anyone else that has more than a single amoeba brain cell?
J.D. Vance mimics the grotesque self-righteousness of Donald J. Trump. Neither can tolerate dissent or an opposing opinion, the symptoms of fascists.
And Vance is entirely unlikeable, which gives me a whole lot of hope.

In the ICE office supplies room there are boxes of pre-signed warrants in pads of 100, all labeled “help yourself”.
How is it ICE and CBP thugs are allowed to display POLICE on their clothing.
They do not have police authorities. Aren’t they impersonating real police officers?
If you or I did this, we would be arrested for impersonating a police office.
Same thing applies to their administrative warrants, they don’t allow them to enter one’s home.
These legal niceties are, frankly, not terribly interesting or important to most Americans, unless they themselves are affected. The arguments are too wonky. The Democrats will not make headway until somebody helps them to put it into plan, non-lawschoolese that strikes an emotional chord.
Until this happens, there will be less outrage and resistance than the maladministration’s actions call for.

14th Amendment
Section 1
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Emphasis mine. These aren’t “legal niceties.” These are important rights that all humans have in America, and all humans should exercise them. Never consent to a search, always demand a warrant, require it have your address and be signed by a judge (who is the only one that a Oath or affirmation can be made to). If someone is trying to enter your house without a warrant, the second and third amendments might also be relevant (but in most states it is not a good idea to shoot people, so talk to a lawyer about that).

Warrants not signed by a judge are an oxymoron and an abuse of language by the police. Judges not in the Judicial branch are similarly an abuse of language.
False. Watch any one of the right-wing militia types youtube channels, and this is about all they talk about. The fourth amendment is not a legal “nicety” to people in all parts of our political spectrum.

I sure hope you’re right. But since he’s under the thumb of the tech bros and has proven himself willing to lie glibly and often, and will be surrounded by the same bunch of 6th-rate half wits, I am not sanguine about our chances.
You can always find someone willing to lie, cheat, or steal. You can always find someone willing to ignore their beliefs if it means they get to hurt someone they don’t like. However, even the MAGA kid in my daughter’s history class ranted about the fourth amendment and ICE not breaking down doors. He was fine with everything else, but that was a bit too far for him.
I was referring to the nice distinctions in who could issue what kind of warrant, and which warrants would be legal versus which appear to be made up things that Jaydie came up with.
