Five staffers of Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ) announced their decision to resign from his office in light of his decision to join the Republican Party after declaring that he opposes impeachment.
Van Drew should follow his staffers’ example.
I have a sneaking suspicion he was a shitty boss anyway, as weasels tend to be. I hope they all get great new jobs as a reward for being people of principle.

The timing of this decision by Van Drew says tons about his skills as both a politician and his general judgement. Like signing up to be entertainment director on the Titanic.

He’ll forward their salaries to his new orange master. In return he’s assured a new years eve invite to Mar a Lago where the tiny black crumb that is his soul will be subjected to a dozen flushes.
Sounds like his staff are more human than their boss.
Good on them for standing on principle.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) offered to hire them “until they land new jobs that align with their values” in a Sunday evening tweet.

Doubtless there are more than a few Nazis and fascists willing to fill these openings.
Is this unusual? When a politician switches parties, do staffers often remain with that politician?
Would the last person to leave the office please turn off the treason.
It’s common. Most of the career staffers are affiliated with one side or the other, and they’ll go through different bosses as people lose elections, retire or whatever.
So for them to have followed him over would be akin to killing their prospects of getting picked up by another Democratic Congresscritter in the future.
In contrast to GOP reps, who would probably cut them loose, blacklist them, and then complain about them being pikers on the dole.
Let’s not forget that the DCCC pushed Van Drew over the goal line in the 2018 Democratic primary. Let’s also not forget that Cheri Bustos enacted new rules that would have prohibited any of its vendors from working on any primary challenge to Van Drew in the 2020 primary.
Someone might want to remind Cheri of this… seems at least now she might want to rethink this.
I’m seeing reports from reliable news sources that his dog, Rover, has turned himself into the local animal shelter seeking a new home. 
Good for them.
