The U.S. Postal Service enacted a rule this summer banning its clerks from signing mail-in ballots as witnesses while on duty, a restriction that can prevent the ballots from being counted.

This seems like a rule straight up attacking their rural base, not sure they thought this one out far enough.
Has the Trump team thought this through. It seems to me that most of DeJoy’s efforts at voter suppression are going to suppress Trump’s base. Alaska is a mostly red rural state that can occasionally go blue. Lots and lots of Alaskans live in homesteads and only occasionally have visitors, usually the mail delivery person. I would think that Trump would want to count the votes of every Alaskan living in a tiny fishing village or small farm across the state. They are most likely the people Trump could count in his base.
They’re flooding the zone with hurdles voters have to overcome to vote and have their votes counted. For every one we hear about, there are probably another 10 or 20. Dems can and should fight this in court and in the media, but there probably isn’t enough time to block all of these by the election, and some courts will slow-walk rulings, to help Trump.
We’re witnessing the most corrupt and dishonest election in modern US history, just as Trump claims it will be (only in the other direction, of course), and much of it is out in the open. Trump is basically saying “I’m going to cheat, try and stop me”, and daring us to do just that. He intends to win the same way he got into and graduated from college, by cheating. Guy is more crooked than a thousand Z’s.
Only way for Biden to win this is to overperform at the ballot box, win the media war, and fight as much of this in court as he can. And even then it’ll be very ugly before it’s over. They’ll have to drag that worm out of the WH in chains. Hopefully he’ll have an aneurysm and join his brothers.
How can you say that the UPSP is trying to prevent mail in voting?? How dare you imply malicious motives. All we’ve done is remove mail boxes and sorting machines, and yeah, i guess that witness thing. But it’s all in good faith as cost cutting measure! /s
The USPS getting rid of sorting machines and mail boxes to cut costs is sort of like McDonald’s getting rid of fryers and soda machines to cut costs.

Maybe their internal polling is telling them something the rest of us don’t quite know about yet. Maybe they know that lowering the turnout across the board is their only hope.

… seriously … if our little local post office can sell boxes & mailing envelopes and Christmas cards … take passport photos … and a variety of other things that require postal worker time …all within the objective of better serving the public … Well then a postal worker should be permitted to continue the practice of signing as a witness … this new rule is just a mean spirited deliberate obstruction … intentionally creating a hardship for no reason other than to impede the voting process
No detail too small to disrupt the election. No detail at all when it comes to tracking the contacts of children snatched at the border from the arms of their parent. The bureaucratic state turned upside down into an inexorable engine used to deny rights.

Whenever a customer wanted a letter of protest read, date stamped and initialed before it was placed in a envelope and handed to me it was done.
This is called service to the American public.
