Cozy Bear is baaaaack…
AND
Russia is at it again - election interference in UK

UK Statement: “On the basis of extensive analysis, the Government has concluded that it is almost certain that Russian actors sought to interfere in the 2019 General Election through the online amplification of illicitly acquired and leaked Government documents”

I’m waiting for Trump to tweet his defense about his master’s new crimes!

The world does NOT need this - Bubonic Plague!

Authorities in Mongolia have imposed a quarantine after a 15-year-old boy died of bubonic plague.

He and 2 other teens had eaten an infected marmot, a large ground squirrel.

So another Russian bounty to ignore, Donnie?

Help me out here. Shouldn’t vaccine development be an open book?

Nothing to see here, Trump already asked Putin and he said no he didn’t do it.

Only to KushnerVaccines, Inc., which a conspiracy theorist could say would benefit greatly from Russian hacking of vaccine developments by others.

If it’s US-based research that discovers a breakthrough treatment or vaccine, Russia would receive it directly from the Trump Administration rather than skulking around with their internet hackers.

Wouldn’t it be easier for the Russians to ask their guy Trumpnik to get the info for them?

He probably would have thown in some NORAD info as a bonus, since he’s so great at the dealmaking.

One would think that but (1) it is cheaper, some believe, to steal others work than to create it yourself, and (2) there is the GREED factor, charge whatever will make you the most cash as quickly as possible.

I thought there was a European constortium cooperating in some ways. There might be some advantage in having as many different efforts as possible underway, many approaches, to find the best soonest. But once a good vaccine has been developed, licensing for production should be cheap, and governments should agree to control prices.

Isn’t Cozy Bear AKA the Trump reelection committee?

It’s hard to believe that Russia would have to ‘steal’ US research. Just give Donny a call and he’ll send over anything they want.

I’m not sure I believe the part about just wanting to steal research rather than disrupting it. The most effective strategy is to steal until the point where the road to implementation becomes clear, and then to disrupt so you have the only copy of the readily-usable results.

trump* is the #1 thing keeping the civilized world from uniting and kicking some Putin ass.

uh, I think our scientists are familiar with the concept of backing up their work…

that being said, I really don’t give a fuck if Russia or anyone else steals the info on vaccine research. I’ts a freaking pandemic – there is no such thing as “intellectual property” when lives are at stake. And this is doubly true given that our tax dollars are funding all this research anyway – including lots and lots of experiments that will be total failures.

Civilized nations cooperate for the good of all. Others, not so much. We all know who’s who.

Under the circumstances, shouldn’t every scientific research community be sharing with every other research facility, globally, making hacking a non-starter? Just another instance of the failures of capitalism.

This is off topic, but has anyone seen an analysis of what is going to happen with Trump’s diversion of the COVID data from the CDC to his cronies? I keep seeing the same story that tells us it is happening, and one tweet about the CDC itself going dark, but is this going to compromise or make suspicious any of the other data repositories like Johns Hopkins or the Worldometer?

Not sure why, but this scares me more than just about anything else happening right now.

It’s also unclear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin knew about the vaccine research hacking, but British officials believe such intelligence would be highly prized.

Just like the obscene “BOUNTY” travesty - TRUMP will not make a single comment critical of PUTIN.

Just like the obscene “BOUNTY” travesty - TRUMP will say information about this is inconclusive.

… because Putin does not even need to say the words … Trump knows he serves entirely at the pleasure of Vladimir…
Should Putin become irreparably offended by Trump - Trump’s entire existence will be irreparably dismantled within 48 hours.
