Really, $5000 or prison. Seems excessive no matter who.

Trump filled out his quota of black people giving them irrelevant and easy to ignore offices, this guy as Surgeon General has been a joke , not even at the table for the pandemic decisions. Same with keep forgetting about him HUD secretary.

This is the first year I have not been able to go to Hawaii because of Covid-19. All the other years I couldnā€™t afford it.

There was an article about him in the NYT a few months ago that said he was a fairly independent voice and in Indiana tried to nudge Pence to a saner place on public health issues, particularly the needle exchange program. As usual when youā€™re in the Trump orbit the sense of reason is whatever Trump touches dies.

Hawaii has done pretty well with the virus, by American standards. Their island status helped, but so do real rules, enforced. Their only fuckup was a few months ago when they let tourists back in, but theyā€™ve gotten their numbers back down since, but not as good as they were pre-tourist bump.

BTW, New Yorkā€™s fine for incomers failing to quarantine is $10,000.

To be fair to the police, no one would expect the Surgeon General to violate a health ordinance in a public park, and they probably thought they were just citing a random black citizen. Cuz, you knowā€¦

Skin colorā€™s got nothing to do with it. Theyā€™ve been hammering rule breakers of all types. The true idiots are the newlyweds who just have to take their preplanned vacation and skip out on quarantine to visit the (closed) beach. Turns into the honeymoon of house arrest.

Not really. Sometimes you have to carry a really big stick and use it to convince folks you actually mean business.

Appear in court?

Does that make him a sucker, a loser, or both?

Nobody who matters appears in court anymore.

This story broke about a month ago, and heā€™s been straight up apologetic, and saying he will not fight it.

If I told a teacher ā€œBut I didnā€™t knowā€¦ā€ in grade school, he/she would respond right quick ā€œIgnorance is no excuse under the law.ā€ I somehow donā€™t think this was a case of ā€˜walking while Blackā€™. I suspect he thought heā€™d get away with it. Jerome is that kinda dude, doncha know?

Heā€™s lucky he wasnā€™t in Canadaā€¦

A Kentucky man accused of breaking Canadaā€™s coronavirus rules ā€” twice ā€” could be forced to pay a $569,000 fine ($750,000 Canadian), spend up to six months in prison, or both.

You might want to have a conversation with Mueller, who somehow concluded exactly the opposite regarding Jr. and accepting foreign assistance that was explicitly stated to be on behalf of the russian government and their support of Donaldā€¦

Does skin color ever have nothing to do with it?
